I did not attend South all four years, but I did graduate from South in 87. I hung with Dave Smith and Manfred Schaub--who is still a dear brother. It's hard to believe that it has been 15 years! I still live in Redondo Beach with my wife of 7 years. We have 2 children--ages 6 and 10. I eventually ended up at USC and UCLA, and I am currently a criminal attorney. I stumbled upon this site quite by accident, but WOW what a trip down memory lane. Although my career at South High School was a short one I none the less have very fond memories of the people I encountered there. I only spent my Freshman and Sophomore years at South and those were not full years as I was quite the troublemaker back in those days (You all remember us troubled kids who used to hang out "behind the library".) If only I could do it all over again. (sigh)... I ended up quitting high school to go to work for a large aerospace factory in Gardena with my Father. What a great site to keep up with old friends. After graduating I spent 4 years at UC Davis and then received my teaching credentials at CSU Sacramento. I met my husband, Scott, in Sacramento and we've just celebrated 14 years of marriage. We have 3 great kids: Zakary is 10, Ethan is 7, and Elyse is 4. We've been living in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 9 years and have loved experiencing the four seasons. My family is still living in the South Bay and we usually get out for a visit every summer. As for me, I met my husband Dean thru another SHS alumni and we were married in 2002. We went on some great snowboarding and scuba diving trips before deciding it was time to start a family. Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii-after attending San Diego State for 2 years the islands were calling. I moved here about 15 years ago and have never looked back. I purchased a dive business with my parents and worked as a boat captain/owner operater. I got tired of the tourist business ad sold 1 month before September 11th. I am currently in appliance repair and loving it. I married Michelle Sanders (1986 south grad) in 1997 and since we have had 2 beautiful daughters Juliette 31/2 and Genevieve 7mos. I am out numbered for life. Both my parents and sister are here and life has been great. Hello fellow Spartans! Wow I can't believe that 21 years have passed already. Since graduating I've stayed in the South Bay area where I currently reside in Lomita. I have been with my husband (Randy) for 13yrs and have been blessed with a beautiful son, Nicholas now 8yrs old. We are still hoping to add onto our family (call me crazy). After high school I worked as Veterinary Technician at an Emergency Animal Hospital for 13yrs until I became pregnant with my son. After that I started working with my husband temporarily as he started his own business in the environmental field, where we manufacture Air Pollution Control Equipment called thermal oxidizers. Eight years later I am still there and the business is now going international. I love working along side my husband and the company gives me the flexibility to be a hands on mother as well. Hi everyone! After 4 great years at South, I went to UCLA for my bachelor's degree and spent my senior year studying abroad. It was an awesome experience and even got me to Berlin for the reunification of Germany. I went on to get my MBA at the University of Texas at Austin and then spent several years with various internet start-up companies. I'm in Human Resources so I got to be part of the "ups" and the "downs" of the industry. For the past 3 years, I've been at a real estate/development company in Santa Monica. Still married to my beautiful wife Gail (Rolling Hills grad) with 2 kids (Tate 5 and Chase 3). In 2004 I decided it was time for a career change. I wasn't quite fulfilled as a trash collector and part time javelin catcher (at the Olympics). So, Andrew Martz and I decided to leave the South Bay and buy a bowling alley, and adjacent Denny's Restaurant, in Tempe, AZ. It has always been our dream to own our own bowling alley. My average is now up to 253 and Andrew's is 260. We are training for the senior tour. Keeping up the day to day operations keeps me busy and we love the hotter climate. If you are ever around, stop in and see us. I still stay in touch with Rick Biedler (who is a silent partner in the business). In my spare time Andrew and I collect rare Yu-Gi-Oh cards and travel to card shows with our kids.

I live in Corona and love it. I get to go home to Australia pretty often, and am now an American citizen, though have kept my Aussie status too. Prior to kids I was in the restaurant biz, working as a cook for the Chez Melange group of restaurants, and then moved into management, ending my professional career as an HR Director for a hi-tech firm in Tustin. I love being a stay-at-home mom, and wouldn't trade it for the world!

Hello Everyone- it was great to see a lot of you at the 20 year reunion as I stated im my little speech our class ages like a fine bottle of Red Wine!!! We had a great time and it was unfortunate for those of you who could not make it, hopefully you can make the next one. I am currently a Regional Sales Manager with a company called Lumenis in their Aesthetic Sales Division covering reps across the Central U.S. My wife (Susan) stays at home with our three great boys Mark 9 yrs. Michael 6 yrs. and Jake 3 yrs. We live in a great community in Northville, MI so if any of you ever travel this way be sure to look us up! I am enjoying life in the Midwest (as crazy as that may sound) it is a great place to raise kids. We do enjoy our trips back to Southern California to see family and I often get back there for work related meetings. Hey! Sure was strange seeing you all at the ten year reunion (was that really four years ago? ;-). After I left South, I joined the Air Force, and stayed for four years. I was stationed in such great places as Mississippi, Iceland, and, of course, Saudi Arabia. One place I ended up that I did like was Illinois, where I live now. After leaving the service, I got a Computer Engineering degree, and I currently work for Rational Software. Hello my fellow Spartans, I can't believe it has been 20 years. After graduationing from CSULB, I've been working in the computer/consumer electronics industry for the last 14 years. I met my wife Ana in college and we now have two beautiful girls: Gabriella 5 and Leah born 7-15-07. We are living in N. Redondo about a mile from the beach. I don't think I can ever leave the SB.

I still live in Torrance although my husband and I did move to Washington State for 3 years before we decided to escape the rain and move back to sunny weather. Together we have 3 awesome boys who keep us very busy (Andrew 11, Brennan 9, and Cameron 7). I am a 1st grade teacher at a private school in P.V. and love what I do. years of my
life. Ok. Grab a bottle of wine or perhaps a
12-pack, whatever
your poison, sit back, and enjoy. On second
thought, I think I
will just give you the cliff notes. After high
school, I coached
volleyball for a while, then gave that up. I
played volleyball on
the beach for a while, then gave that up
(although I still miss
it!). I now teach marine science and biology at
good ol' SHS.
(Yes, I will say hello to all of your old
favorite teachers for you).
I have been lucky enough to travel to places that
I never
thought I would have the opportunity to visit.
Sometimes life is
really good to you! I have been lucky! I still
live in Hermosa
Beach, and still use the beach as my church. I
just can't get
that salty air out of my soul! Hope all of the
journeys in your
life have been as rewarding and beautiful as

Hi, everyone! I love seeing all the familiar faces and reading your stories...I am currently living in Irvine, CA with my wonderful husband Joe, and our two-year old daughter Sophia. We are expecting our second child in June 2005 and recently found out it is a boy! My husband is a retired major league baseball pitcher and has been working as a Sports Agent for the past 15 years. He represents professional baseball players, so no doubt will our son have a fun life of baseball festivities. After graduating law school, I practiced law for about five years and then decided that I wanted to pursue a career in real estate. I still teach law all across the country for a bar-review course twice a year, but in the meantime I sell residential real estate as a real estate Broker. I have never been more fulfilled professionally and personally, and I am enjoying motherhood to its fullest! WOW! What a crazy site! Kimberly West told me to log on. Yes, Kim and I still keep in touch. Can't believe it's been 20 years. I married another alum, Eddie Altobelli 12 years ago, we have a 4 year old daughter, Vanessa. We have been living in Moorpark, CA (next to Simi Valley) for the past 10 years with. Made a dumb mistake and tried Oregon for 6 months. I work for the Simi Valley Hospital Child Development Center as an Early Intervention Specialist. Eddie is the Director of International Sales and Marketing for Pentair Pool Products. He travels internationally quite a bit. Can't wait to see everyone at the reunion!!

Ohhh My gosh I have no idea where to start! It has been so wonderful of a adventure I have no idea where to start. Lets see.... I was a mechanic for Champion Chevrolet in Manhattan Beach for almost 10 years then I met a wonderful wife (Carmen) married in 1997 had our first child in 1999 and moved from Redondo Beach at the end of 1999 to beautiful WA state. Went looking to make Tons of money and of course fell flat on my face after the demise of Dot coms. Ended up going back to mechanics and then moved on to become a water distribution manager for a city up here in WA named Bothell. Anyways I now have 3 kids total and they are all boys!! Yikes what a pain in the Butt! I missed the 10 year reunion and I really hope to pull off the 20 year where ever it maybe. Hope to talk to you all soon. The big 20 is on Sat and I thought I should get myself acquanted with everyone again, and realized, my info is seriously outdated. So heres, the short version. Happy, I still live locally, S.Redondo. I have a wonderful fulfilling life, with good friends & family(Sean is in Fresno with wife and kids, and mom/dad in N.Cal.) I have a job (I am self employed in El Segundo as a Marriage Family Therapist) which I would do even if I won the lottery. The other day, I said to myself, that if nothing in my life changed I am already happy and feel like thats a great place to be, I am very grateful to feel that way. One of my passions right now is currently surfing, (hardest thing I have ever learned or I should say "am learning"). I keep in touch with a few ppl, like Tammy Wolf, and Lisa Schoental and see a few around, like Bill Watt, Paul Ensley, the Delurgio clan, and others living near by. It is a small world and I hear about Alumni teaching my friends kids or something funny like that. I love traveling internationally, and try to 2x year, although I did just get back from Kansas.. yup you heard me. It was a family reunion, but, it was more of a culture shock than Thailand. I hope all are well, and I am looking forward to hearing everyone's story. See ya Sat 8/4/07

Hello Fellow South High alumni. Well, I was known as a BL'er
and the Drummer of the party band Hatred. I continued my
journey
in Music and played in several bands, got to travel the world,
lived in London, and worked with several legendary musicians.
Now I own a booking agency, and oddly enough I book some of
the bands we all listened to in High School! I am producing a
tour this summer featuring; Human League, English Beat, ABC,
Berlin, OMD, and others. Pretty weird eh? I now live in
Hollywood and plan to move to europe for good in the next
couple of years. anyway, take care everyone~!

After South I graduated from CSULB with an Interior Design degree, then loved working for Ethan Allen on Sepulveda Blvd. for 9 years. I married Billy Moore (class of 76) who is the love of my life! Ok..So I didnt actually graduate, therefore, I couldnt remember what year I was suppose to!!....How sad is that!...I believe I was "87" but upon returning home from a year of school in NewZealand....I skipped the 9th grade...Long story short...All my friends were Jr.'s and Sr's...when they left.....so did I!... I didnt have any friends left at school...So I did an independent course and bailed!...Dont regret it!.....But I do miss those days!...Life goes on for us all....Great to see you all on here!....I live in NZ again....been here 4 years..altho I remained in the South Bay for 25 years....Then moved to Reno,NV for 10....I have 3 kids Skyla 17, Harley 11, Hayley 9....My man died 4 years ago, hence my move back to where I was born!(needed family around me and the kids)....He also went to South... After graduating from South I went to Humboldt State for two years (with Barbie Mest, who I have lost touch with if anyone knows where she is) before transferring to Cal Poly Pomona to study Hotel/Restaurant Management. After Cal Poly I moved to Connecticut (about 40 minutes outside of New York City) where I eventually became General Manager of a catering and restaurant management company. In 1995 (after attending Julie Freeby's wedding in Las Vegas) I moved to Las Vegas to invest in Real Estate. In Vegas I managed a number of restaurants including Motown Cafe and Border Grill before eventually entering Real Estate full time. I am now a licensed Broker/Salesperson in Nevada and Washington State, and split my time between both states.

Hola fellow Spartans! I haven't strayed far from the nest, I am a police officer with Manhattan Beach PD (for the past 15 years) which I joined after a 3 year stint in the Army right out of high school.
My wife, a Warrior, and I have a horse and two cats. We do photography and cocktails on the side as hobbies.

Hello all you spartans. Just a quick note. I am living up in San Francisco Bay Area with my husband (we met at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo) and our 3 children- Tyler 8, Owen 5 and Erin 3. I got my degree from San Jose State University in molecular biology but the call to be a stay at home mommy was much stronger than my call to be a scientist (for now). So for right now it is car pools and school lunches. High school for me was not the most treasured memories of my life. It was painful and I am glad it is over. Thank God that high school is only 4 years and then you can move FAR away where no one knows you. | |

WTF, 20 years! Shocked with that realization, I am promted to finally get up off my ass and put a message out there and say "Hey." "How the hell are you all?" I am truly looking forward to the reunion on August 4th. I had moved to Europe in '93 and I was still living in Berlin, Germany back in '97 so I missed the 10 year by a month before I moved back to Cali. I know it is sappy and all, but I really do feel (and I am sure I am not alone) that we grew up at an amazing time and in an amazing place. An area that is often portrayed by the media to represent "the quintessential southern california setting." Pretty fortunate is the overwhelming thought I get when I look back on my life so far. I am an optician by trade. I bought a business in the Riviera Village back in 1999 and have resided in the South Bay again since '02 with my partner of six years, Mark (Big surprise, I am sure some of you knew well before even I did). But enough about me, email me and tell me about you. I still see a few classmates on occasion - it is always nice to reconnect and revel at our good fortune for having been a conscious part of the 80's. See you at the reunion!

Hey Class of 1987 – Checking in just before the big reunion. Has it really been 20 years? (Looks in the mirror – Uh yeah, I guess it has)
I spent the first 4 years out of High School doing a little bit of nothing but getting by and looking for the party. I found a beautiful and intelligent woman to spend my life with (Summer Leko – RUHS) in 1992 and have since been on a journey of growth and success.
I manage the Network Operations Department for the best Wireless carrier in the U.S., and am enjoying my life in a beautiful home high atop the Chino Hills where we are raising our incredible daughters Holly (17), Hanna (14), and amazing son Nikolas (7).
I am learning to enjoy every moment and with the help of our incredible family am reinventing myself each day…
High School was a strange time for me, as it was for many of us. I was elated, depressed, bold, scared, progressive and stagnant all at once during 4 years that seem so brief in retrospect. It was all an integral part of my development…Trying to find myself, when little did I know that the pivotal changes would be 18 years down the line.
I look forward to hearing from people who I liked/disliked, helped/fought with, laughed with/was laughed at by…Anyone that wants to say “Hi”.
We were just a bunch of confused kids and this moment is as good a time as any to reconnect and share our experiences as we continue to fulfill our life’s unique purpose and watch the magic unfold.
Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.

school. As for me I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a
BA in Criminal Justice. Moved to the Northwest in 93 and
became a Police Officer. I have worked for the Portland Police
Bureau for the past 10 years. Was promoted to Detective in 04.
In Oct 08 I gave birth to my first child, Austin Andrew. If I new
motherhood was this great I would have started a family a long
time ago. Oh well for everything a time and season I guess.

At any rate, I have been back in Southern California since 1990 (Texas was not for me). I got off to a late start in my education and career, but I finally got my B.S. and am about to embark on a M.S. After graduating I continued on for another 11 years of schooling if you can believe it to finally become a physician.I married and currently have 2 kids, ages 3 and 5 (2008). I practiced up in Northern California for 8 years and then moved back down to Socal(Laguna Niguel) last year to be closer to family and actually put my career as a physician on hold for a while to focus on raising my kids and am really enjoying it. I was sorry to have missed the 20 year reunion last year but made it to the "50 years" alumni fair and was glad to see a few of you there. Hope to see more of you at the next reunion.
