Class of 1987
Jodi (Aamodt) Potter How many years has it been? My goodness! Well, I didn't go far...still in Torrance. I am a programmer/analyst in the automotive industry. I am married to a great guy, Darrin and we have three children, Aaron (14), Rachel (8), and Emily (2). I guess we'll all meet up again a few short years. Take care and God bless!

Mitch Adam

Erica Bailey

Alan Barsi

John Bedford committed suicide 1991. this is his sister posting on his behalf.

Keith Bray I did not attend South all four years, but I did graduate from South in 87. I hung with Dave Smith and Manfred Schaub--who is still a dear brother. It's hard to believe that it has been 15 years! I still live in Redondo Beach with my wife of 7 years. We have 2 children--ages 6 and 10. I eventually ended up at USC and UCLA, and I am currently a criminal attorney. It is nice to see some your names.

Joseph Breheny I stumbled upon this site quite by accident, but WOW what a trip down memory lane. Although my career at South High School was a short one I none the less have very fond memories of the people I encountered there. I only spent my Freshman and Sophomore years at South and those were not full years as I was quite the troublemaker back in those days (You all remember us troubled kids who used to hang out "behind the library".) If only I could do it all over again. (sigh)... I ended up quitting high school to go to work for a large aerospace factory in Gardena with my Father. After 12 years of that I met my Fiancee and we finally settled in Rochester NY (SNOW SUCKS!), where we currently reside and I wear a suit and tie everyday and moonlight as an amateur songwriter.

Alexia (Brody) Kadish What a great site to keep up with old friends. After graduating I spent 4 years at UC Davis and then received my teaching credentials at CSU Sacramento. I met my husband, Scott, in Sacramento and we've just celebrated 14 years of marriage. We have 3 great kids: Zakary is 10, Ethan is 7, and Elyse is 4. We've been living in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 9 years and have loved experiencing the four seasons. My family is still living in the South Bay and we usually get out for a visit every summer. It's great to read about so many of you and how happy you are. Here's to 20 years!

Kathleen (Brown) Fellows It's been a little over a year since the 20th reunion and I, like the rest of you, am fast approaching 40. I'm looking very forward to it. Family is about the same, 6 children, 1 husband. The baby I was expecting at the reunion was stillborn but we are working through our grief and beginning a whole new chapter in our lives. In an effort to contribute to the family income I'm now blogging at http://family- My Myspace account has changed to a music profile

Philip Cabanday

Chris Carlson What’s up!! I am still in the south bay and would not live anywhere else. I have a wonderful son and wife! I went to the 20 year reunion and I am so glad that I did! It was great seeing everyone!! I have been at Scott Robinson Honda for over 10 years now and love it! Hope all is doing well!!

Renae (Carmichael) Thornton Wow, I cannot believe all the people who have posted from our class. It is great to read all the interesting things everyone has been doing since we graduated. As for me, I met my husband Dean thru another SHS alumni and we were married in 2002. We went on some great snowboarding and scuba diving trips before deciding it was time to start a family. In July of 2004, Aidan was born, followed by Emily in June of 2006 and we could not be happier. Hope to see you all at the 20 year reunion! Toodles!

Bjorn Carnemalm I was an exchangestudent at South High 1986/87. Now I'm working as an artist, living in Malmö in southern Sweden with my wife and two sons.

Dan Caseltine After high school i went to AZ to further my education a little.Spent 5yrs in Phx before coming back to the south bay area, got married in '96 divorced in '02.Then moved out to Temecula, building Dodge Viper race cars.Been here for the last 5 or 6 yrs, now it seem's i'm heading out of state again (due to work)i'm headed to Reno,Nv at the end of august 2008...Guess we'll just have to see how this little ride we call life turn's out, more to come soon!

Edward Che I had moved to Downey before graduation, but I had a great time at SHS. I attended CSULB and moved to Long Beach; married in 1997; three girls: 2, 8, and 11 years old. I am a geotechnical engineer by day and a guitarist in a band by night; playing in local dive bars.

Steve Clabaugh I never graduated from South but spent three wonderful years there. I graduated from Rolling Hills HS in 1987, then joined the Navy in 1988. I spent 10 years as an Advanced Electronics Technician, got out in 1998 and now I live and work in Virginia Beach, Virginia as a high speed telecommunications technician. I did get married in 1989 and have 2 wonderful boys - Zachary 9 & Ethan 2. Well if you remember me please e-mail me and say WWWAAAAZZZUUUUPPPP like in the Bud commercials.

Cheryl (Clark) Petersen I am sad to say I am going through a divorce, but am staying strong. I have two beautiful children and I'm currently living in Torrance. Contact me if you'd like to get in touch.

Jonathan Conrey Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii-after attending San Diego State for 2 years the islands were calling. I moved here about 15 years ago and have never looked back. I purchased a dive business with my parents and worked as a boat captain/owner operater. I got tired of the tourist business ad sold 1 month before September 11th. I am currently in appliance repair and loving it. I married Michelle Sanders (1986 south grad) in 1997 and since we have had 2 beautiful daughters Juliette 31/2 and Genevieve 7mos. I am out numbered for life. Both my parents and sister are here and life has been great. I still come to the South Bay to visit Jeff Leymann and family and would love to here from you some of the old gang. I hope to see you all at the next reunion. email me if you get a chance.

Beth (Corley) Rhodes

Curt Crosby Hmm, I didnt actually ~graduate~ from SH (some of you may remember why ;^D ), but I did manage to graduate (haha). I went to college to become a teacher. Currently I'm a carpenter and work in a refinery. Go figure. Anyway, i gotta go. We're only allowed 5 minutes on the prison computer.

Erin Damianakes I currently work for the Santa Barbara Police Department (no, I am not an officer) and live in a small, cute town just outside of SB called Summerland. I am still single with no kids. Hope to see you all at our 20th. Hard to believe it has been that long.

Darlene (DeNapoli) Cosenza You would not believe how much I miss California so when my friend forwarded this site to me I was amazed. I am living and for the time being working in New York. My company (Sodexho)has lost the account I run, another victim to 9/11, as if losing a cousin wasn't bad enough. So come March 1st I will have a lot of free time until I start my own business. I have to take the summer off though, I live two blocks from the beach and will finally have time to enjoy it. Do any of you live or travel out this way? I would love some California companionship.

Cindy (Distaso) Grigory Hi! I'm living up in Northern CA now with my husband and new son. I had been teaching elementary school for 5 years, but have taken some time off to be a Mommy. Check out my family web site at and be sure to press my name and leave an email!

Frank Duran It was a wonderful time of my life being there for 4 years. I learned so much. Thank you South High and Staff and friends. Frank Duran.

Scott Dyer Looks like I'm not going to make the Reunion... My wife and I are expecting our first child (a boy) in early September. Hope you all have a good time! FAQ: Left South in Jr. year, graduated from West, joined the Marine Corps Reserve - made Sgt - got out, graduated from Chico State, traveled Europe for a while, joined the Marine Corps - made Capt, served in Bosnia and Iraq (Bronze Star, CAR) - got out, graduated law school, now defending people and buisinesses sued in Kentucky's Federal and State Courts, and about to become a father (the last is probably the most important!). Hope you've all had a good twenty years - maybe I'll be able to make the 30th... Good Luck!

John Enfield Graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1991 and am still in the Navy. Still flying the FA-18 Hornet, along with the other staff tours and such that come with age. My wife, Christy, and I move around a lot and have had a chance to see (and live in) some interesting places. We are currently getting ready for our next big adventure: command of a fighter squadron.

Jolynn (Fitzpatrick) Hix Hello fellow Spartans! Wow I can't believe that 21 years have passed already. Since graduating I've stayed in the South Bay area where I currently reside in Lomita. I have been with my husband (Randy) for 13yrs and have been blessed with a beautiful son, Nicholas now 8yrs old. We are still hoping to add onto our family (call me crazy). After high school I worked as Veterinary Technician at an Emergency Animal Hospital for 13yrs until I became pregnant with my son. After that I started working with my husband temporarily as he started his own business in the environmental field, where we manufacture Air Pollution Control Equipment called thermal oxidizers. Eight years later I am still there and the business is now going international. I love working along side my husband and the company gives me the flexibility to be a hands on mother as well. I would love to hear from anyone who just wants to say hi. You can reach me on myspace, email me or through this link. Don't be shy!

Christina (Frasso) Britt Hello, Great to see what everybody is doing. South was a lot of fun with great memories. Brian and I got married in 1994 after we both graduated from USC. He is a financial advisor in P.V. and I am a dental hygienist part time and mom of 2 kids. We are still very involved in Young Life. I am looking to get a Young Life alumni group together so please e-mail me if you would like to learn what is going on in Young Life now. It is really exciting how it has grown in the South Bay. We live in Redondo Beach and go to King Harbor Church. God Bless You! Christina

Pat Geyer After graduating from SHS I left for Ohio State and the midwest. I returned for a short period after graduation in 1991, but returned to Ohio shortly after that to marry Patti (from OSU). I am currently living in the Cleveland area working for the Federal Reserve as the Assistant Vice President of Government ACH operations and Cash Systems Support. My first son, Adam, was born in 1995 and my second, Aaron was born in 1997. On my last trip to LA, I scoped up my little piece of Ave I beach and have it sitting in a glass dish on my desk. My own little bit of Torrance...

Natasha (Gogin) Gogin-Moses It was great re-connecting with everyone at the 20 year reunion. Time really has flown by. After high school I attended UCSD and graduted with a BA in Theater Arts. Afterwards I lived in Kona for 2 years. I decided on a career in education and moved back to the South Bay and received my teaching credential and a MA degree in Education. I am currently living in Torrance with my husband Dan Moses SHS class of 84 and my son Jason 1 year. I teach second grade nearby in Lawndale and love it!

Bethany (Hale) Durbin So many additions to the website since I visited last. Still living in Huntington Beach (since '90), married with 2 kids ages 12 and 8. Slight career change last year, working in healthcare; but now in transplant. I'd love to hear from old pals!

David Hall South High -- what to remember about a time so far, far away...? So distant... So removed... So clouded with half thoughts, random imaginations, and semi-realized moments of self discovery... A time of searching, and reaching, and hunting for...something. A time to remember in a world so ready to forget... A time of Oingo Boingo, stoners behind the library, pep rallys, and skate punks -- which were you? A time of shot gun growth and the first glimpse of fleeting youth -- which was I? A time of beer bongs, and toga parties, and everything Valley Girl... Was I there? Did I leave? Did you see me go...? A dusty yearbook is opened... Parched pages filled with fluorescent clothes, misshapen hair-do's, and electric pink make-up stare back through the years. So much promise we had. So many dreams... So much enthusiasm choking the Spartan halls between classes. We were friends... We were enimies... But in the end, we were all just students -- each of us a student of life -- struggling deep

Trish (Holverson) Yearley

Laurel (Hooton) Jordan Hello to my past! Wow what a flashback reading all of these posts. I am married to Mike Jordan- he did attend south for a bit. We have been married 11 years. We have 3 kids 8,6, & 3. We both have our college educations. Mike is in the Air force and i get to stay home and raise the kids. I run a direct sales company as well. Life is full, busy, and blessed....

Steve Johnson Still living in San Jose, CA. and married with 3 children (Lauren 8, Tommy 6 and Bella 3). I am looking forward to seeing a lot of you at our 20 year...that sounds crazy!

Ronald Juth Graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Business Administration. Now living and working in Orange County, California.

Tanja Kampe Hi everyone! After 4 great years at South, I went to UCLA for my bachelor's degree and spent my senior year studying abroad. It was an awesome experience and even got me to Berlin for the reunification of Germany. I went on to get my MBA at the University of Texas at Austin and then spent several years with various internet start-up companies. I'm in Human Resources so I got to be part of the "ups" and the "downs" of the industry. For the past 3 years, I've been at a real estate/development company in Santa Monica. Although I've moved away a couple times, I've always come back to the South Bay and now live in Hermosa Beach. I'd love to hear from fellow Spartans, so please send me an e-mail.

James Kastigar Time to update the profile. I was married in September 2005 to a great gal from Scottsdale, AZ. We just moved into a new home in Redondo Beach; back to my home roots. I am now working for a boiler Manufacturer based in Oxnard, CA. I am glad to still be in the area as I could not possibly leave the beaches of So Cal as my passion for beach volleyball grows every year. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

Dana Keir Still married to my beautiful wife Gail (Rolling Hills grad) with 2 kids (Tate 5 and Chase 3). In 2004 I decided it was time for a career change. I wasn't quite fulfilled as a trash collector and part time javelin catcher (at the Olympics). So, Andrew Martz and I decided to leave the South Bay and buy a bowling alley, and adjacent Denny's Restaurant, in Tempe, AZ. It has always been our dream to own our own bowling alley. My average is now up to 253 and Andrew's is 260. We are training for the senior tour. Keeping up the day to day operations keeps me busy and we love the hotter climate. If you are ever around, stop in and see us. I still stay in touch with Rick Biedler (who is a silent partner in the business). In my spare time Andrew and I collect rare Yu-Gi-Oh cards and travel to card shows with our kids.

Lisa (Knighten) Greger Hello everyone! I can't believe how much time has passed since highschool. I've lived in Carlsbad, CA since 1995. I keep busy raising my daughter Marissa who turned eight in September. It's fun to see what everyone is up to.

Christian Kulbe I hope everyone got rich.

Robert La Fraugh Hello Alumni. It’s awesome to have this place to come to where we can reflect on our school years. Many of us have been through much change over time, including myself: living in Seattle’s grunge, to the Silicon Valley Dot Com Boom, the scenery greatly changed for me. Though ironic when it comes full circle, and I’ve ended up in SoCal., albeit more knowledgeable of the world and reality. I’m now doing what I love, operating my own Architectural Landscaping business (quite a change from Medical and Info Technology of my past. Not having a boss makes me extremely happy, and being outdoors is where I want to be. Something was truly special about our graduating class, and I’m chuffed to see that the memories are kept alive by each and every one of us. From the era where Top Gun and The Beastie Boys were all the talk, we’ve come a long way.

Al Lee Update: We are currently expecting a girl in July (Doctor's Prediction), but I think it will be more like mid June. The kids are all 7 years apart, thus giving me more time to recuperate from College Tuition and Books. My oldest son, Andrew (9/93) will be starting South High this fall. Aaron (10/00) will be starting 1st grade at Seaside Elementary. I can't believe I have a son at SHS!!! I feel old! Anyways...Hope to see you guys at the 20th Reunion.

Mick Love Hello to all of you guys and gals from the Class of 87! I'm sure most of you at least remember mb for my last name, but didn't usually hear anything out of me (I was that really quiet guy who always sat in the back of every room!) Anyway, I now live in Tustin, CA and am working at Electronic Arts in Irvine. I am Assistant Network Administrator/Computer Technician for the company and have been working here for at least 7 years (although under different company names.) I hope all you of you are doing well and hope to see you at the 20 year in 2007!

Tom Mace Hi everyone... I just stumbled onto this site and wanted to drop in and say Hi. After High School I attended Long Beach State and started a career in retail Loss Prevention. I worked with Target Stores for 11 years in Southern Ca, Portland Or, and Phoenix Az. 2 years ago I switched over to The Home Depot and I'm currently in the process of moving to Seattle, Wa as the Director of Loss Prevention for their Pacific Northwest Division. I've been married for 7 great years and have 2 wonderful children Brett 5, and Savannah 3. It's nice to see so many of you posted on this site doing well...Drop us an Email, we'd love to hear from you.

Andrew Martz Great to see some names from the past. As Dana mentions, we really love our bowling alley in AZ. My average continues to climb (272 currently). I find myself spending lots of time their in the winter months. I hope everyone can come out and pay us a visit. Also, we have some great Yu-Gi-Oh shows coming up in 2009. I'll be attending Hartford, CT in February, Sioux City, IA in June, and Medford, OR in August. Look forward to seeing everyone over the holidays at Hennessey's.

Trinidad "Trini" (Matos) Iovine Hi! It's fun to see what everyone has been up to! I've been married for almost 9 years to a great guy and we have three kids. Michael is 7, Alexa is 5 and Jake is 18 months. We are back in Torrance after spending 3 years in Denver, 3 years in New Jersey and 2 years in New York. It's great to be back!!!

Samantha (Mayne) Boxer What a great website. I just learned of it from fellow Spartan Eric Anderson ('88), who I married in 1990, but sadly divorced in '98. I am now married with 2 little one, Chloe 4-1/2 and Katie 2. I live in Corona and love it. I get to go home to Australia pretty often, and am now an American citizen, though have kept my Aussie status too. Prior to kids I was in the restaurant biz, working as a cook for the Chez Melange group of restaurants, and then moved into management, ending my professional career as an HR Director for a hi-tech firm in Tustin. I love being a stay-at-home mom, and wouldn't trade it for the world!

Mark Merritt Hello Everyone- it was great to see a lot of you at the 20 year reunion as I stated im my little speech our class ages like a fine bottle of Red Wine!!! We had a great time and it was unfortunate for those of you who could not make it, hopefully you can make the next one. I am currently a Regional Sales Manager with a company called Lumenis in their Aesthetic Sales Division covering reps across the Central U.S. My wife (Susan) stays at home with our three great boys Mark 9 yrs. Michael 6 yrs. and Jake 3 yrs. We live in a great community in Northville, MI so if any of you ever travel this way be sure to look us up! I am enjoying life in the Midwest (as crazy as that may sound) it is a great place to raise kids. We do enjoy our trips back to Southern California to see family and I often get back there for work related meetings. It is always a pleasure to go to Rocket Ship Park and look down the hill on SHS and remember nothing but good times. Cheers to all of you and I wish nothing but good things for you. Looking forward to the next time!

Naomi Mest

Curt Miller Hey! Sure was strange seeing you all at the ten year reunion (was that really four years ago? ;-). After I left South, I joined the Air Force, and stayed for four years. I was stationed in such great places as Mississippi, Iceland, and, of course, Saudi Arabia. One place I ended up that I did like was Illinois, where I live now. After leaving the service, I got a Computer Engineering degree, and I currently work for Rational Software. Along the way, I married a great lady (Jennifer), and we have three children -- Jacie (b. 1995), Abra (b. 1998), and Noah (b. 1999). Life is great, and I hope you all are doing well. Drop me a line if you like! It would be great to hear from you...

Kenny Mori Hello my fellow Spartans, I can't believe it has been 20 years. After graduationing from CSULB, I've been working in the computer/consumer electronics industry for the last 14 years. I met my wife Ana in college and we now have two beautiful girls: Gabriella 5 and Leah born 7-15-07. We are living in N. Redondo about a mile from the beach. I don't think I can ever leave the SB.

Tammy (Neal) Korshavn Hi everyone! What a great place to hear from people you haven't heard from in years! 20 to be exact. Wow! Time does fly... I still live in Torrance although my husband and I did move to Washington State for 3 years before we decided to escape the rain and move back to sunny weather. Together we have 3 awesome boys who keep us very busy (Andrew 11, Brennan 9, and Cameron 7). I am a 1st grade teacher at a private school in P.V. and love what I do. I would love to hear from you so please drop me an e-mail and hopefully we'll see you at the reunion. Take Care!

Michele Newman Hmmmmm. How to catch you up with the last 20+ years of my life. Ok. Grab a bottle of wine or perhaps a 12-pack, whatever your poison, sit back, and enjoy. On second thought, I think I will just give you the cliff notes. After high school, I coached volleyball for a while, then gave that up. I played volleyball on the beach for a while, then gave that up (although I still miss it!). I now teach marine science and biology at good ol' SHS. (Yes, I will say hello to all of your old favorite teachers for you). I have been lucky enough to travel to places that I never thought I would have the opportunity to visit. Sometimes life is really good to you! I have been lucky! I still live in Hermosa Beach, and still use the beach as my church. I just can't get that salty air out of my soul! Hope all of the journeys in your life have been as rewarding and beautiful as mine! Cheers!

Jennifer (Newmeyer) Sambito Hi, everyone! I love seeing all the familiar faces and reading your stories...I am currently living in Irvine, CA with my wonderful husband Joe, and our two-year old daughter Sophia. We are expecting our second child in June 2005 and recently found out it is a boy! My husband is a retired major league baseball pitcher and has been working as a Sports Agent for the past 15 years. He represents professional baseball players, so no doubt will our son have a fun life of baseball festivities. After graduating law school, I practiced law for about five years and then decided that I wanted to pursue a career in real estate. I still teach law all across the country for a bar-review course twice a year, but in the meantime I sell residential real estate as a real estate Broker. I have never been more fulfilled professionally and personally, and I am enjoying motherhood to its fullest! I look forward to our 20-year reunion...please email me if you'd like -- I would love to hear from any of the old gang!

Laura (Novello) Altobelli WOW! What a crazy site! Kimberly West told me to log on. Yes, Kim and I still keep in touch. Can't believe it's been 20 years. I married another alum, Eddie Altobelli 12 years ago, we have a 4 year old daughter, Vanessa. We have been living in Moorpark, CA (next to Simi Valley) for the past 10 years with. Made a dumb mistake and tried Oregon for 6 months. I work for the Simi Valley Hospital Child Development Center as an Early Intervention Specialist. Eddie is the Director of International Sales and Marketing for Pentair Pool Products. He travels internationally quite a bit. Can't wait to see everyone at the reunion!!

Morris O'Kelly Has it really almost been 20 years? We hadn't even been on this earth for twenty years back in '87. Feel free to reach out to me at

Daniel Peddy Ohhh My gosh I have no idea where to start! It has been so wonderful of a adventure I have no idea where to start. Lets see.... I was a mechanic for Champion Chevrolet in Manhattan Beach for almost 10 years then I met a wonderful wife (Carmen) married in 1997 had our first child in 1999 and moved from Redondo Beach at the end of 1999 to beautiful WA state. Went looking to make Tons of money and of course fell flat on my face after the demise of Dot coms. Ended up going back to mechanics and then moved on to become a water distribution manager for a city up here in WA named Bothell. Anyways I now have 3 kids total and they are all boys!! Yikes what a pain in the Butt! I missed the 10 year reunion and I really hope to pull off the 20 year where ever it maybe. Hope to talk to you all soon. Great to hear about all the positive things that everyone has done. Take care, Daniel Peddy (Proud class of 1987)

Michelle (Railing) Long The big 20 is on Sat and I thought I should get myself acquanted with everyone again, and realized, my info is seriously outdated. So heres, the short version. Happy, I still live locally, S.Redondo. I have a wonderful fulfilling life, with good friends & family(Sean is in Fresno with wife and kids, and mom/dad in N.Cal.) I have a job (I am self employed in El Segundo as a Marriage Family Therapist) which I would do even if I won the lottery. The other day, I said to myself, that if nothing in my life changed I am already happy and feel like thats a great place to be, I am very grateful to feel that way. One of my passions right now is currently surfing, (hardest thing I have ever learned or I should say "am learning"). I keep in touch with a few ppl, like Tammy Wolf, and Lisa Schoental and see a few around, like Bill Watt, Paul Ensley, the Delurgio clan, and others living near by. It is a small world and I hear about Alumni teaching my friends kids or something funny like that. I love traveling internationally, and try to 2x year, although I did just get back from Kansas.. yup you heard me. It was a family reunion, but, it was more of a culture shock than Thailand. I hope all are well, and I am looking forward to hearing everyone's story. See ya Sat 8/4/07

Richard Ramirez

Christopher Rollins After graduating from South I went to Humboldt State for two years (with Barbie Mest, who I have lost touch with if anyone knows where she is) before transferring to Cal Poly Pomona to study Hotel/Restaurant Management. After Cal Poly I moved to Connecticut (about 40 minutes outside of New York City) where I eventually became General Manager of a catering and restaurant management company. In 1995 (after attending Julie Freeby's wedding in Las Vegas) I moved to Las Vegas to invest in Real Estate. In Vegas I managed a number of restaurants including Motown Cafe and Border Grill before eventually entering Real Estate full time. I am now a licensed Broker/Salesperson in Nevada and Washington State, and split my time between both states.

Michael Rosenberger Hola fellow Spartans! I haven't strayed far from the nest, I am a police officer with Manhattan Beach PD (for the past 15 years) which I joined after a 3 year stint in the Army right out of high school. My wife, a Warrior, and I have a horse and two cats. We do photography and cocktails on the side as hobbies. Looking forward very much to the reunion next year.

Nicole (Sanders) Browne Hello all you spartans. Just a quick note. I am living up in San Francisco Bay Area with my husband (we met at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo) and our 3 children- Tyler 8, Owen 5 and Erin 3. I got my degree from San Jose State University in molecular biology but the call to be a stay at home mommy was much stronger than my call to be a scientist (for now). So for right now it is car pools and school lunches. High school for me was not the most treasured memories of my life. It was painful and I am glad it is over. Thank God that high school is only 4 years and then you can move FAR away where no one knows you.

Lisa Schoenthal Hello everyone- just a note the reunion is being planned for sometime in late July or early Aug 2007. Check back for more info soon. The last posting under my name was a joke- one of my dear friends from the class of 88 wrote it. Tammy (Neal) Korshavn has pushed to get things rolling, after she received a little coaxing from Mark Merrit. I still live in the area and run into alumni often- my brother is coming home this weekend for his 20 year and it prompted me to flashback to how truly special the Class of 1987 was and still is! The spirit, friendships, and good times remain. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Lauri (Segal) Arellano Time flies by so quickly. I can't believe that almost 15 years has passed by so quickly. I am now married and have three children. My oldest (Rachel) is in Kindergarten, Jessica is four, and my youngest (Brandon) will be two at the end of March. I attended El Camino, and Long Beach City College. Eventually, I transfered to CSULB and graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies. I now teach second grade in Compton USD and I love it.

Jim Shank I've been married for 8 years now. Have a girl (6) and a boy (4). Bought a house in west Torrance 6 years ago. Working in the shipping industry for the last 11 years. Still love skateboarding and playing guitar. Feel free to email me if you like.

Wendi (Smith) Kirk

David Smith WTF, 20 years! Shocked with that realization, I am promted to finally get up off my ass and put a message out there and say "Hey." "How the hell are you all?" I am truly looking forward to the reunion on August 4th. I had moved to Europe in '93 and I was still living in Berlin, Germany back in '97 so I missed the 10 year by a month before I moved back to Cali. I know it is sappy and all, but I really do feel (and I am sure I am not alone) that we grew up at an amazing time and in an amazing place. An area that is often portrayed by the media to represent "the quintessential southern california setting." Pretty fortunate is the overwhelming thought I get when I look back on my life so far. I am an optician by trade. I bought a business in the Riviera Village back in 1999 and have resided in the South Bay again since '02 with my partner of six years, Mark (Big surprise, I am sure some of you knew well before even I did). But enough about me, email me and tell me about you. I still see a few classmates on occasion - it is always nice to reconnect and revel at our good fortune for having been a conscious part of the 80's. See you at the reunion!

Kirsten (Soutar) Vallo Hey guys...WOW! I just came across this site and I feel so old. Where has the time gone? Anyway, I have been married for 18 years and have 3 kids (Travis-17, Zachary-16, and Taylor-12). I still live in Southern California and am a Registered Nurse working in the operating room. I haven't attended any of the reunions, but I wish that I had. I haven't really kept in touch with anyone from high school but I occasionally talk to Ann (Becker) Esposito and Breeze South, my buddies from the good 'ole days. I LOVE YOU, BOTH! If anyone wants to chat, especially my first love (you know who you are), drop me a line. Take care and stay well.-Kirsten

Daryl Swensson Hey Class of 1987 – Checking in just before the big reunion. Has it really been 20 years? (Looks in the mirror – Uh yeah, I guess it has) I spent the first 4 years out of High School doing a little bit of nothing but getting by and looking for the party. I found a beautiful and intelligent woman to spend my life with (Summer Leko – RUHS) in 1992 and have since been on a journey of growth and success. I manage the Network Operations Department for the best Wireless carrier in the U.S., and am enjoying my life in a beautiful home high atop the Chino Hills where we are raising our incredible daughters Holly (17), Hanna (14), and amazing son Nikolas (7). I am learning to enjoy every moment and with the help of our incredible family am reinventing myself each day… High School was a strange time for me, as it was for many of us. I was elated, depressed, bold, scared, progressive and stagnant all at once during 4 years that seem so brief in retrospect. It was all an integral part of my development…Trying to find myself, when little did I know that the pivotal changes would be 18 years down the line. I look forward to hearing from people who I liked/disliked, helped/fought with, laughed with/was laughed at by…Anyone that wants to say “Hi”. We were just a bunch of confused kids and this moment is as good a time as any to reconnect and share our experiences as we continue to fulfill our life’s unique purpose and watch the magic unfold. Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have. ~ Eckhart Tolle

Melissa Todd Hi everyone, Wow, such a trip to look at all your really takes me right back there! I am bummed I missed the 20 year reunion but I hope I can make the next one. I have so many memories with so many of you that it truly would be amazing to see some of you in person again. Anyway, I am single, living in NYC, pretty much doing the whole sex and the city thing...See you soon! Mel

Lisa Ummel Currently living in Arcadia- I work in administration for The Salvation Army in Pasadena. I have 3 kids that are just a joy and are growing up too quickly. I spend time down in the South Bay with family often. Can't wait to see you all at our 20 year.

Cassandra (Voight) Estes Hey fellow Spartans... Just an update. I have 2 children now my son, Mason born 9/2000 and my daughter Kaelyn born 9/2004. I'm a stay-at-home mom and a part-time web designer. It's a good balance. We are moving to La Mesa, New Mexico in January. So I'll be missing our 20 year. Cheers! Cass

Cheryl Waddell Great site. I love reading how and what everyone did after high school. As for me I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a BA in Criminal Justice. Moved to the Northwest in 93 and became a Police Officer. I have worked for the Portland Police Bureau for the past 10 years. Was promoted to Detective in 04. In Oct 08 I gave birth to my first child, Austin Andrew. If I new motherhood was this great I would have started a family a long time ago. Oh well for everything a time and season I guess. Hope all is well with everyone and wish you all the best in life.

Jennifer (Wenger) Turchen Just board watching Alvin and the chips part II (with the kiddies) and stumbled upon this site....hilarious! hope everyone is still doing great. see you at the 30th!

Kim Woodring I didnt actually graduate from South, but was with you all up until the end of junior year when I moved to Texas. At any rate, I have been back in Southern California since 1990 (Texas was not for me). I got off to a late start in my education and career, but I finally got my B.S. and am about to embark on a M.S. I wish I had a yearbook picture to add (or maybe I don't), but I no longer have any of them.

Cynthia (Yonuss) Townsley Living in Orange County. I am married with two kids.

Cristina (Yost) Nikkel Hi Everyone! This is a great website! I have been married to a wonderful man for 10 years and we have 2 sons (Christopher, age 8 and Sean, age 6). Five years ago, we picked up and moved to McCall, Idaho as we didn't want to raise our kids in the rat race. It has been an amazing change in our lives. I won't be able to make it to the 20 year reunion (has it really been that long?), but if anyone would like to catch up, email me!

Beverly (Zepeda) Gaitan After graduating I continued on for another 11 years of schooling if you can believe it to finally become a physician.I married and currently have 2 kids, ages 3 and 5 (2008). I practiced up in Northern California for 8 years and then moved back down to Socal(Laguna Niguel) last year to be closer to family and actually put my career as a physician on hold for a while to focus on raising my kids and am really enjoying it. I was sorry to have missed the 20 year reunion last year but made it to the "50 years" alumni fair and was glad to see a few of you there. Hope to see more of you at the next reunion.
