I just remembered, after my previous post: Steve Fischer (Class of '65) had a sister, Nanci Fischer, SHS Class of '62, who married George Ross, SHS Class of '62. Nanci died of cancer a couple of years later. Steve said that he's lost touch with George and is trying to find and reach him. He said that Dennis Puckett (SHS '62) was a close friend of George's. Does anyone have any information about George's or Dennis's whereabouts? Thanks.

I guess I can't let Bob Cook be the only poster from Class of '62! I have lived in North California since '66 (also the year of my marriage). We have two children and one grandchild. We have been in Mendocino County since '79. My younger brother, Doug (Class of '69 I think), lives in Eureka.

I am currently living in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to that I lived in Memphis, Tennessee. I left Redondo Beach in August of 1994. I still work for a company in Hawthorne. I'm a Regional Marketing and Sales Manager.

I am living down in San Diego (Del Mar) and work for Upper Deck Trading Cards and Memorabilia. I head up our marketing department and I actually work closely with Rebecca (Smith) Walsh, class of 84, who is our VP, General Counsel. I still play soccer and tennis, although a bit slower than my days at South. I was also recently married to my beautiful wife Holly. My sister Katrina, class of 84, still lives in the South Bay. As does my dad, Coach Corman.

It's really been 30 years! And I know some of you are disappointed, but the reunion committee didn't have the energy to do the 30th,....we did a 25th and had a good turnout, and I know we'll regroup for a 35th....leave me your e-mail and I'll put you on the list, or if you're energetic, plan something.... Glen Janssen has us all on computer, so please send us updates on moves, missing people, etc. Since I have a freshman "Spartan" I'll update you on football....homecoming is this Friday, October 22nd, against North, the only other undefeated team in the Ocean League, 7:00pm! Get there early, since the team is sooooo good, it gets crowded and parking is terrible! They really have a shot this year at CIF, they're ranked #1 in their division. Well, I've got to run, anyone from class of '69, drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you. Caren

I have been waiting for this site to be posted for soooo long. I visited some of the other south bay school's web sites but never saw one for South. But now . . . Whoo! Whoo! I hope to be able to connect with all of you Southerners out there in web land. Please email me and we'll chat about the good 'ol days . . . like smoking behind the library . . . wait . . . that wasn't me . . . really. Who was THE best Hamburglar in the Halloween costume contest . . . come on! Look back in your year books for the answer. That contest was fixed anyway. Ha ha ha I hope to see more postings for the class of '85 soon. Take care everyone.

So good to have some sort of contact with good 'ol South. I will certainly check in on a regular basis and let other Spartans know about this site. I don't know about everyone else but I am soo grateful for the wonderful education I received at South. Just about everyone from the counselors to the teachers were top-notch. I attribute my success today to my awesome teachers. Visit me at my web site: http://walden.mvp.net/~jj

I also saw "American Beauty" last night. More than just South's gym made it on screen....pretty cool, eh? Though certain other Torrance high schools have made appearances on TV, this is the first time I'm aware of that our school has been used by Hollywood.
From: John Christiansen (1974) on Sun Oct 10 12:14:58 1999
Went to see "American Beauty" last night. Glad to see that South High has made it on to the silver screen. Has the campus been used for any other movies?

To make the 7 p.m. Sunday night chat successful, how about this: If you get into the chat room and no one is there -- stay five or ten minutes **at least** so people showing up will stay. We did that on another chat and it worked well.
From: MIKI (1969) on Fri Oct 8 17:41:50 1999
To all fellow spartans. We have had the pleasure of enjoying the fruits of our labors (earth science) (Drivers ED with Mr. Tuxford (so nice) and the other experiences that we were so fortunate to share... And for those who still are in the area, even though there seems to be failing in the "30th reunion", contact as many Spartans as you can, and let's try to get together for dinner/drinks/whatever... Michele
From: Michael Stanley (would have been 1965, but West High got built....) on Wed Oct 6 06:21:37 1999
I only went to South for my freshman year, along with a load of others who graduated from Parkway Elementary. We moved at the end of that year to the part of the South High district that was allotted to West High, and the est, as they say, is history. So I didn't graduate from South but had a lot of friends who did. Of course we have lost touch over the years... I would really be interested in hearing from anybody who may remember me. I now live in Japan near Tokyo; I've called this side of the Pacific home for 20 years this month. It wasn't so long ago I'd sit on the beach and wonder what exotic places were on the other side. Well, I really found out, I guess... Anyway, it would be nice to hear from some of you out there...

It looks like I'm the grandpaw (oldest one) here so far. I had a ball at South. I had the first Corvette (1957) in Torance, followed by Mr. Corman, the P.E. teacher. We hung around the A & W and drag raced at Lions. I wound up on the Pro Golf Tour for several years, and built swimming pools in Palos Verdes for 20 more years. I now live in San Simeon with my wife and two teenagers.

Hi everyone! I am looking for Patty Orbeck, if anyone knows how I can get in touch with her please email me at strauch@northrim.net. Was sad to see there werent too many 1979rs on here. I got married in 1981 to a guy in the Air Force and here we are in Idaho 18 years later. He retired after 21 years last spring and we decieded to stay here. We have 2 sons age 11 1/2 and 16 1/2. Hard to believe that our oldest will graduate in 2002. Both boys play in the band, guess they take after mom since I enjoyed my years in choir at South. Does anyone know if Mrs. Byers is still around? Would love to hear from any of my classmates.
