KS, JK, PM, and Dieter - PM you might not know this. Do you guys remember that guy who was from a Europen block country when we were going to school. He was an exchange student. Anyway to prove Mr. Smith's point when he got here, he was either a Jr or Sr i don't remember. His education level being from where he was and thier take on education was beyond ours. I think he said he was equal to a second year college student over here. Now that is education, let's give the Kids Math & English until the say 7th grade, then move on too other subjects. You know maybe they might absorb more that way. It's better than that garbage there teaching now. Ok, on to another subject. I've kinda stayed out of the politics topics because we know how touchy Lib's are, but I've gota say "Hey DNC & other Lib's, Quit your crying" look at the facts, look at reality, and look at yourselves. Are you really better off under a Democratic agenda. I don't think so! Oh and racism don't even get me started on that one. I'm so tierd of people hiding under, behide, or whatever they do to it. Oh that's racest, you know what, there racest for bringing it up. Ahh such a country we live, the only place where Al Sharper and Mr Jackson can become famous. I know let's say, oh it's because I'm other than African American that's why everything sucks. Nope it's like I say, you are who your are and your responsible for that person, don't make excusses for bad choices. Now for those who truly are victims of chance, I pray (yes I said Pray) for a better life for you. Oh and thanks for the Easter message. Sorry guys, kinda went off there. And we can do that Why?

Dieter, well said and so sadly true. Liberals paint those of us who are not as "non-compassionate, hateful and racist" among the other negative adjectives used to describe those of us who do not subscribe to their agenda. Because of Liberals, public education today has taken the mantle for not only educating all citizens and immigrants, but now "feeds" all Poor people free lunches and breakfasts, at tax payer expense, because their "parents" have failed to do their basic duty of providing sustenance to them. Libs have interefered with public education and now have forever changed the basic scope of what school was for: To learn basic skills that will help the student progress to the maximum of his/her potential. You're right, too, about Dan Rather - his credibility lies in the ignorance of the masses of people who choose to be spoon-fed the news instead of spending a few minutes each day to look into issues from other sources...

Jimmy –
You must remember that liberals think that all conservatives are mean-spirited, selfish, and hateful. All we want to do is poison the water, pollute the air, and kill the children. The reason they think this way is the DemLibs in power (political, and media) do a MUCH better job of spinning, lying, and promising than the right. I hope Dan Rather had a good time at the Dem fundraiser he was speaking at – because he lost all credibility (not that he had any before). The majority of the American population is as stupid as cattle. They don’t care about corruption in political office. They don’t care about the onerous tax burden that the working people pay – and by working people, I don’t mean the 40 – 60K set – my wife and I have a combined income of 180K, and pay more taxes than a lot of people earn. I think the success of the left has to do with one basic premise – If you promise ‘free’ stuff to stupid people, you have a high probability of success.
Peace Out

Mr. Smith, Mr. Weeks & PM, Just a note. I saw on the news (Fox News,) the big 3 did not carry it(I think), That Babs S. was trying to put together a Democrat cable channel (Yech) so as to combat, in her mind, what she perceives as an all conservative media. This Channel would only allow a Liberal agenda to be broadcast. What the hell does she think is being broadcast now!!!! She must at some point pull her head out of the sand for that it has been buried in for so long. If she thinks what is being JAMMED down our throats is conservative she need to wake up and smell the coffee. This just proves that the only AGENDA the democrats have is to BRAINWASH the public at large. What the democrats fail to understand is that when others disagree, it is their opinion, not racism. Mr. Weeks, I cannot agree more with your statment regarding free speech - in my opinion, the greatest of all our guaranteed liberiies, save the Second Amendment and all the others we've been given. Oliver Wendell Holmes said in his dissenting opinion of "Abrams v. United States - 1919" "...The best test of truth is the power of the thought to get itself accepted in the competition of the market.." (free thoughts and ideas). Hard for those in opposition, but the right to be heard and to be able to speak freely must be defended for all. What I disapprove of today is how newspapers "censor" information - try getting a conservative editorial printed in the Times, even the Daily Breeze - unless worded "correctly" it won't be printed. It's a sad fact that those who control the media really do govern what we read and hear...

PM and all, My reunion,in my opinion, was a great success due to the fact that all of us got to see whom we wanted. And to try to guess who the rest of us were. As for the Memory Book go ahead and order one (what the hell) they are going to figure it in the price anyway. I went to see all the people that I knew since my days at Seaside Elem. and to that extent it was perfect, as they also wanted to see how their childhood friends were doing after 20+ years, most of "these" people I have known since Kindergarden. That was good to see them after all these years. The one good thing about a "Reunion" is to renew old friendships not to fight over where the event is held, so to those who are on the RC if this was your intent then it was a success, if it was not then...
Just one other note to "...??" I spent a lot of my time in HS realizing who I was, not trying to "fit in" with the "IN" group. As it turns out most of us in HS did figure it out. My soap box is done. Again my name James. ha

To the person called... And yes I am visiting this site because I enjoy most of the "thought Provoking" Ideas. As for HS being a stepping stone for "most of us" I stand behind that. As I have stated before some believe that HS was and is their life, I just happened to move on with mine. HS was fun for me. As for my "soapboxing" I have always expressed my views when asked and I do not sugar coat it. If you don't want "MY" opinion don't ask. As for the "Reunion" "FUSS" (as you call it) was just what I thought(and most grads) the reunion should be held, someone wanted held down in Orange County, now what makes the most sense? And as for me making more positive statements, I rarely make negitive statements (you must be confusing me with a Liberial Democrat). But unlike you I am not afraid to leave my name or e-mail. Maybe you can help since it seems you know about the reunion "fuss" then you may know why our "memory books" have taken almost 8 months and no one has them yet? When I called the reunion Co. (Creative Class Reunions) they have informed me that they are waiting for some pages from the reunion committee (RC) and that they have had them for a "while" and that most books are delivered in 4-6 months. Let me see,I graduated HS, and the reunion was held on Aug. 25, 2000 and it is April 12, 2001, that makes it 7.5 months. A gal there asked "me" to call(or e-mail) the RC and ask them what the hold up is. (hahaha) After I was attacked by them in e-mails with false accusations and Lies about my family... forget it. I must be part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. And now off my soap box. By the way other grads can get ahold of them, the RC, and tell them to hurry up.
CCR is waiting on them and said they are calling them everyday, so they are not to blame. (It must be the repulicans) James (see my name!)

I don't remember saying that censorship was without at least some merits, Richard. Try telling that to the ultra-liberal-tree-hugging-eco-terrorist, facist animal rights wacko's with the civil liberties union, though. You can blame the likes of them (and hollywood) for the garbage on television that bombards our kids these days. My sincerest regrets to hear of your children being threatened in such a manner. The point that I was trying to make here was that the media hypes these instances much more than they did in days of old. In times past much would be done to cover up such actions, in order to avoid public panic, and the intrusion of news crews into the lives of those families that were victimized. That is impossible with the speed at which information travels these days. So you have the focus of an entire nation, hanging on every word of the evening news, in order to get the latest scoop. In many ways we have become a nation of spectators and on-lookers, instead of free thinkers. Today's media would interrupt a funeral procession if they thought there were ratings in it for them.

Everybody keeps going back to these school shootings. These incidents are still the rare exception rather than the norm. People talk about how the world gets more brutal every year. This is not entirely true. Homocides are actually down (considerably) from the early 1990's, but the media's propensity to sensationalize grows with each passing year. The number of homocides that gained media attention more then tripled in that same time frame, giving the impression that killings are on the rise. Please do not get the idea that I look lightly on these "lost boys" who perpetrate these campus killing sprees.... nothing could be farther from the truth. The senseless destruction of young lives is a terrible thing. Every generation thinks that the one that succeeds it is going to hell in a hand basket. They aren't. If you look back really hard...we were crazy too. It's just that we look back upon ourselves with rose colored glasses on most of the time.

I would definitely take the larger house and opt to commute. Lived in Temecula before it got yuppie, and now live in Hemet. Commuted to San Diego for 7 yrs, and lived up here. The cost of liveing is far lower here, but is on the rise. We were lucky, we were able to buy a big vintage (1932) house in excellent condition for 90K here. Also, there is not a lot of "bigger city" problems, ie: the school shootings here, but I feel for those people. I have kids in school and I am terrified that this will happen here. Even in a small town we are not immune. But I visit Torrance quite a bit, and am always amazed at the growth. I remember being able to ride a bike all over without a care in the world.

Okay, okay....Joni Honore...your point is taken. Janet; Living in the South Bay is unaffordable? I can't really speak for Southlanders anymore, as I left for Nevada back in 1990. I didn't move because I could not afford to live in the Southbay though, I just got an offer I couldn't refuse, so to speak. It all depends on what you're willing to give up. What would you rather have....3500 SQ feet of brand new home in an up and coming new community, or 1100 SQ feet on a tiny little slice of one of the beach cities? It's all relative, no matter where you live. As for me, I hope to return to the Southland in the not-too-distant future, but my fortunes where I now reside are too good to walk away from.....for the time being anyway.

Richard; I have to admit (sheepishly) that there was a certain grimy appeal to Pup and Taco's culinary fare. If you feel the need to walk down memory lane, Der Wienerschnitzel is still around, and offers similarly equipped hot dogs. James; I have yet to experience the Re-union phenmenon. I guess i'll see for myself when it's Class of 84's turn. I could be wrong, like the time I bought that stupid pencil with that DAMN eraser. HAHA. Life is what you make it, and sad to say that some really don't make much of it while they can. PM, JM, JK, Did I miss that class also. I mean when did they tell us we had to grow up. Geez I miss everything. You are who you are, if you choose to grow up you do, if you choose to act young you do. High school was a great time in my life when I showed up that is. After school, I must admit I did feel like Al Bundy once in awhile. Nevertheless, I have lived, I have learned and I have grown up. That was my choice. Life can be summed up as the big game; your ranking is based on how you play the game. If you sit back and give it little effort, well I think you get the picture. Play hard and play well. Give life your best effort and no matter your out come your a winner because you gave it your all. In addition, my message to all is do not cheat at anything, you only hurt yourself. Be honest and have Integrity. Raise your kids to be leaders, not followers. Our futures lie in their hands let’s help prepare them as best we can. High School was the peak of someone's life? I do not think that is the case with most of us, James. I think that most people revere their high school days because in most cases it is the last gasp of our childhood years. After high school we become encumbered with responsibilities and obligations. During high school, we are forced to congregate at the same place that most of our friends gather, we find out who will be hosting the happening parties over the upcoming weekend, and outside of keeping up a decent GPA, really don't have to worry about too much else. My post high school life has not exactly turned out as I had planned (I wanted to be an evil scientist and take over the world) but I am having the time of my life.... right here, right now.

What do I miss about High School the most? A good topic. What do I miss about HS is just the care free life. But most of HS was just a period of my life growing up, a stepping stone, Life really starts when you have the right look on life, which for me happened just after HS. It amazes me how, for some people, HS was their peak in life (AL Bundy)haha. Life really starts when you realize your dreams. James

An great friend said this when I asked him what he missed the most about High School:
the road, the city in general. cruising through MY city, with the windows down, wind in my face, good music playing over the roar of the road, the city lights reflecting off the water and my windshield and my best friend in the seat next to me.

I just had to echo your sentiments on the Clintonistas, people. It's good to hear that not EVERYONE in America was duped by these guys. You know...I keep hearing about how good the economy was during the 90's. It was good. This was due in part to the mechanisms put in place by the 12 years of republican rule prior. The only thing the Clintonites ever did for me ws raise my taxes to the highest level i've ever seen. Now that we have a decent tax cut bill in the works, we have people like Sen. Daschle holding up a can of beans on national televison and telling me that's what the tax bill means for me. I'll take that can of beans, Mr. Daschle, thank you. The stains left upon the White House by it's previous occupants will wash away, eventually. It's only a matter of time. God bless America.

True Ron. What we need to do is go back to the basics of "parenting" Let's stop this "touchy-feely" stuff, and "raise" our kids. We need to teach them by example. We also ned to be there (when we can) for them, I know it is difficult , with the oppressive taxes and high cost of living these days, But "WE" Have made the choice to have kids and WE have to think of them and put our desires on hold for the sake of our children. Too Many parents think that their lives are more important and are looking out for themselves first and their kids second. This is called selfishness. Now don't get me wrong our lives are important as well but it has to be put in the proper perspective, I hope one day to have my daughter "Actually" leave home. I had a life before my kid and I will again, hopefully with a responsible, caring and loving daughter. Just some thoughts. James

And the cat came back the very next day. Once again another unfortunate event has hit the lives of our children. At what cost does it take to realize that this wave of gun violence has been going on for years. How many “whites” have to die before we realize that the very problems that plague “those other people” have made a U turn? Suddenly your own backyard does not seem so safe anymore!
Fingers at the parents, the media, guns! Interesting enough the fingers never point back at us. People who raise our kids get paid a little more than minimum wage. McDonalds feed our kids lunch and dinner. Television baby-sits when it’s an emergency.
Now we welcome arm policemen into schools. Have we succumbed to a police state? Does the sight of an arm policeman really deters a pissed off kid?
Human behaviors can change but it can’t be controlled no matter what laws are passed

Can you believe the nerve of President Bush wanting to give everyone, who PAYS Taxes, A tax cut! I cannot believe what I am seeing in the news. I mean what about the people who pay no tax? They are being left out. We need to give them something. Any Ideas Spartans?

Let’s remember that Bill & Hill are poor trailer park white trash. They got a taste and now they want to keep it going, by any means necessary. Hill has been deep in every scandal but manages to escape. Their supporters have jumped shipped, only the sleaze bag DNC chairman still carries their bags. Heck, when the Cyclops Alan Colmes starts criticizing, you know it’s over. PeaceOut

I just love all the people supporting / making excuses for Slick and his gang but as soon as he is out of power they jump ship fast. I guess it shows who your real friends are. And for slick it is anyone with money and female. Ha a cheap shot but what the hell.
