James, I came across your *********** message on CM's Nazi board and replied to it. I noted that post number 2 in the same thread where CM transferred over the posts from Delphi has a WORKING link to bring you here! When they pulled over all the old posts, those with email addresses and URLs remained intact. We just can't slip new ones in without coding them. I didn't even have to violate their TOS by replying to you and saying to look at message number 2 for the link. :) Sue

RDOG, pleas drop me a line @ Nuttymong@aol.com and tell me exactly what I said about Kenny Morro, because I did not know him or anything about him. I never even mentioned his name.

I spoke with Jeff Larson last night @ the SHS home football game where he said he had no knowledge that this site even existed let alone of a post he allegedly made. So like I said before, it's just some punk kid messing with him so forget about the post.

Classmates doesn't want any mention of websites posted. You have to be creative by typing "At" instead of "@" and dotcom instead of .com. But I think they can revoke your membership if you break their Nazi-esque rules, so beware..

FYI, I just posted a message to Classmates.com and tried to list this site southhigh.com and they did not list it, it came up as ******* I just they do not want any competition.

Zack is not doing his thing on this page? I thought "HE" fought to have the roundtable page? RDOG who are you?

What else could possibly be added to Carol's comments but AMEN!!!!! Zack, NOBODY is trying to pick a fight with you. However I am inclined to beleive, after reading your last couple dozen posts, that the one looking for a fight is YOU. And by the way, your crack about The Late Mr. Kenny Morro ranks among some of the most tasteless attempts at humor I've ever seen. One might say your young age might have something to do with it. I am more inclined to beleive that your just an idiot.

I've been reading these messages for a while now, and have not really been compelled to reply to any one particular theme; BUT the message from Jeff was probably the most over-exaggerated thing I've seen in a long time. Sure everyone has their opinions about everyday life, and that is why you know have the Roundtable for these very long, heated, discussions. But i don't understand Jeff's total negativity about SHS. Sounds like he got busted for every little thing he did, or he thinks he was totally wronged all of the time. get over it. We in the South Bay enjoy,(past and present) a very good school system. Most students want to make good grades to transfer to a good college. We could be in Wilmington where your teacher writes the daily assignement on the board and the students do it if they feel inclined. Peer pressure there is NOT to do any school work. If you screwed up in HS you were targeted, and rightly so. If you are just into making up stories and Boo-Hoo-ing go cry somewhere else, you poor persecuted soul!

The injustices of a world working against us, when will they ever stop. Whether being harassed by security guards or crooked ass cops. Teachers are not the one to blame. Many of them, the same with different last name. True, one or two went the distance and what they did was gold. But the on my case, all the time was the dean, she was fat, she was ugly, and damn she was mean. No matter what school, the same cliques, different faces. The same kids hanging with the same races. And what’s the deal with three vice principal, guess it’s better to have more people visible, the finical matters, all a lie, pawing the students to see ads for books, candy for sports, taking the money on auto flush toilets, guess you can say the moneys gone done the drain, until then things will never change

yipes, it seems no matter what I say you try and pick a fight whether it's a political issue or me trying to clear up a situation when someone was given a bad name or when someone steals someone else's identity, cuz I know how much that can suck, right Val!?
From: VBA (81) on Mon Sep 3 16:03:40 2001
Geeze, Zack, I hope you're wrong.. Why don't you ask him? He probably wouldn't be too thrilled to think someone stole his identity...

From: Beth (81) on Sat Sep 1 13:29:33 2001
Jeff, all the comments made after yours are true. And now here's mine! High school was so hard for me, in many ways. But after attending my 20 year reunion, I realized how insecure most of us were at that time - although we didn't know we all felt that way then. So it was just a battle, emotionally, getting through it. Yes, I had/have strong feelings, both positive and negative, towards some of the teachers and systems there. BUT, I now realize how truly lucky I am to have had the education that I got at South. Most Americans are in a very small, elite percentile of people who have food to eat every day. Who have a roof over their heads. Who feel safe from oppression. Who have the opportunity to become educated. MOST people throughout the world will NEVER have these things. Jeff, in your future, make the best use of the education you DID receive. One day maybe you can look back on your experiences at South and see how much more lucky you are than the rest of the world. And Bill (68) is correct - ATTITUDE, baby!!! Check yourself, before you wreck yourself! :)
From: Kevin Smith (1981) on Sat Sep 1 00:32:42 2001
PM, so true of attitudes during high school years. I don't think there are many who sincerely "liked" high school while they attended high school, but as you've said, VBA, later on people can separate what they didn't like from the truer experience. Jeff, I hope nothing really bad happened to you that teachers/administrators did nothing about. That does happen to students - nor do I hope you were one of the many students who seemed to be ignored - because you weren't getting in trouble or you weren't "stellar" as a scholar - you may have been just one of the many who showed up and went through the school. Bill, excellent analogy of life being 90% of how one reacts to situations. Best of luck in the future to you, Jeff. I do think as time passes you may change your attitude towards SHS - I went to North and South, I liked both schools very much, but not while I was attending either of them.
From: Perrius Maximus (1984) on Fri Aug 31 14:20:57 2001
It is entirely possible that all of you are correct insofar as pointing out that perhaps Jeff's attitude was partially to blame for his being dissatisfied with his time at SHS. I can relate to him, however. Not in regards to SHS (I did then, and will always remember my time there fondly), but for a while, I attended El Segundo Jr. High. I arrived there in the 7th grade and from the start I had trouble....with both the 8th grade alumni and the staff. The 8th graders visited something akin to "hazing" upon the 7th graders. This did not bode well with me, for even then, I could give as good as I got. I evaded their attempts to catch me on campus, and I took it as a game at first. It soon began to escalate, however, to the point that they began to threaten me, follow me around, and constantly harass me. Personal property damage followed. It didn't stop until I finally got so fed up with it that I beat the p@ss out of one of them in the hallway between class. The school staff never intervened prior to that. Granted, I never asked them too, but they knew about what was going on just the same. They observed the aforementioned hazing attempts on numerous occasions, including the principle, whose own son was among this marauding band of mischievous students. I got suspended that day. Outside of a couple of teachers who sympathized with me, I was completely on my own while attending that school. Jeff did not cite his reasons for feeling the way that he does, so one can only speculate as to what the true nature of his problems at SHS were.
From: Randy (82) on Fri Aug 31 12:09:51 2001
Yeap Jeff ATTITUDE! Been there done that but one day you will wake up 10 or 20 years later and realize where the problem really was(not the school, not the teachers) but it was You all the time! I gave most teachers a hard time, and if I could go back there would be a lot of changes I would make in myself and ATTITUDE. If I had to do it all over again, I would, because South and all the teachers I knew, ROCK!!!
From: VBA (81) on Fri Aug 31 03:58:07 2001
I think it is also worth noting that one's opinions (and attitude) about school often change when one sees more of the world. Although I had some teachers at SHS that I still feel were less than stellar, when I compare my experiences there with those "on the outside" (ha) I have to say I find my opinion of SHS has come up. While there, and for awhile thereafter, I too was unimpressed. Now, however, upon reflection (and by comparison through my kids HS adventures) I'd have to say I think SHS is pretty o.k. afterall. I hope you feel the same way in a few years, Jeff.
From: Bill (68) on Fri Aug 31 02:33:07 2001
Yo Jeff Larson ........Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. So , it is within you!!!!!! Your are in charge of your " ATTITUDE " Perhaps , it would be prudent for your to realize the impact of attitude on your life. Given a goodly amount of thought on your part, especially at your age, even though age is not always a gauge of knowledge; you might realize that your attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes.than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, being gifted or skilled. You cannot change the inevitable. The only thing you can do is play on the one string you have, and that is your "ATTITUDE " . Work on that . with warmest Aloha
From: Jeff Larson (2000) on Thu Aug 30 23:58:31 2001
SHS is the worst school in the south bay, maybe even in the state of California. The staff there is pathetic, the dean of students and the principal have no business running a school in the south bay. I would have to say for myself and I'm sure I speak for many fellow students when I say that my time at south was a complete waste. And I hope who ever reads this can make changes, so that the unfortunate teens attending the school now won't have to suffer just like I did. Sinceraly, A concerned exSHS

I, too, had Norma Muesing throughout my four years at South. She was my favorite teacher. She had a very understanding, calming nature. She was highly respected by all of us in her classes, and I think it was becuase she showed us respect also. Respect from an adult while you're still a kid can be very hard to come by - but not with Ms. Muesing. I've thought of her many times these past 20 years. She was a great teacher.
From: Kelly Scott (1980) on Sun Aug 26 07:03:49 2001
Norma Muesing was a wonderful teacher. I had her for Home Economics in 1979. She was always warm and generous with her time and attention. A grandmotherly type of teacher. The kind of grandmother anyone would be lucky to have. If I recall right, it was in her class that I adopted a cat for my family. It had Siamese markings and eyes the color of a swimming pool. We named the cat Kiki. Somebody had brought the cat into Ms. Muesing's class and said it needed a home. She let it stay, no doubt knowing that one of her students would want it. Kiki was a great cat; Norma Muesing had a great heart. I hope she's found peace.

Thanks, David- for the update. I had Ms. Meusing a couple of times. She was a genuinely kind person who took a real interest in her students as people. I will always remember her smiles and how she managed to make horribly boring classes a lot more fun. She will be forever in our hearts.

Monica, great news about Christopher! I'm so glad he's found something he loves. Hard to believe our "babies" aren't babies anymore, isn't it? Michael just started his senior year of high school. I feel very OLD!! ::grin::

Time for a new update! Christopher graduated from basic training last week in Kentucky. I must say that I was so proud to see him march on to Victory Field and take his oath to protect our nation. I never thought there would come a day when I would be happy to have a child in the military, but he has found something that he has such pride in! He graduated 7th in his platoon (out of 223). He is now at AIT in Virginia for technical training and then he will head home for a few days before he moves to Hawaii with his new wife. Wow! what a summer. I need a month vacation just to recover! I send my best to all of the alums of SHS. Love, Monica

Hi Valerie, Thanks for the kind comments ;-) I am glad that everyone had fun, heck if they didn't I probably would have not wanted to be there! (LOL...!!!). As for looking you up in Tampa, I may just do that, I have been to Daytona Beach & Orlando 3 times (mostly to catch "bike week", but while there we all wanted to see the Mouse ;-). BTW, I was speaking w/ Kevin about the website that I did for my wifes reunion, and I would be happy to do something for our class as well. Go to www.FatBugs.com (that is my business site) once you are past the opening page you will see a link "NBHS" (North Bend High School) take a look and let the "powers that be" know that I would be more than happy to do this ;-) Take care & see you in Tampa (or the 25th...) I didn't get Bill Cyr, or Stephan Elming, Steve Lund, oh and my mom needs Craig Burrdick's info, too(computer stuff). Oh, and maybe you can help me with this Val. I seemed to have drunk many beers by the time I had my photo taken! Imagine that! Well, I and my boyfriend were the last couple before the guy broke down his photo equipment. I neglected to fill out the back of my little green card! Somehow the beer in my system told me that the white sticker on the back of the card had all my info preprinted on it! Now I couldn't really tell ya if that's really what was printed on there or not, I just assumed it was. See what I'm sayin'? Weeelllll, yes, I am saying I'm a bonehead. Who should I contact about this problem. I mean most people from South are gonna know it's me Beth, but the people doing the work, couldn't care less what my name is. Do you think they'll drop my pic from the book because I drank too much and forgot to write my name down? Oh now I'm babbling. Help, what should I do?

Hey Val, you're crackin' yourself up! I in no way meant to say our "mamory" books are gonna suck. I've just read a lot of smack about the books from some of the other years alumni!Oooh, and some of our female alumni had comments about our male counterparts looking so good. In my book, I think they looked so good because they looked like MEN, and not the boys we grew up with. ;) Anyone have any ideas how to get in touch with some of the people we only saw fleetingly?
From: VBA (81) on Sat Aug 4 07:09:14 2001
HA! HAHAHA!! Mamory books!! Oh yeah.. the guys are looking forward to getting their copies of those!!
From: VBA (81) on Sat Aug 4 07:08:22 2001
Hey Beth- I'm not sure how this would work so far in advance.. but I'm thinking! :) As far as mamory books this year go, I think you'll be very surprized and pleased with ours. Sandy Nitchman, as you may know, is a Graphic Artist. She's working on the book as we speak. I think it will all that you dreamed of! As for the gifts, we actually thought of that, but decided instead to channel the money into the books. I'm so excited about them..
From: Beth (81) on Fri Aug 3 22:37:43 2001
Ok, so with all the great feedback I'm hearing, I have an idea! How do you think our '81 alumni would feel about starting an "SHS Class of 81" "reunion fund"? It would definately take some bigtime communication, but it's positively do-able. Imagine having a fund that builds interest for the 25th. If we build up a big enough account in five years, who knows what kind of bash we could throw? And at the very least, we would be able to have stupendous memory books, or some sort of "alumni gifts"! Can you tell I'm a dreamer? Well guys, ANYTHING is possible if ya work hard enough at it. Feedback is very much appreciated. :)
From: VBA (81) on Fri Aug 3 12:17:11 2001
Well, given that we're planning 5 years in advance, Rich, I think it's kind of jumping the gun. It would be a good idea to start these discussions in another 4 years, I think! But we'll be getting together for our own "visiting day" long before then!! :)
From: Rich (81) on Fri Aug 3 11:12:51 2001
Well it's usally when my paycheck comes Val, but in this case it's a day or half a day where we can all get together and spend more time with each other. I don't know, I come up with the stuff and you can fine tune it.

From: Rich (81) on Fri Aug 3 08:32:58 2001
Ok, here is the plan for visiting day. We will have a big room with lots of tables and chairs in one area, in another area we’ll set up a lounge with couches and chairs a real comfortable setting. We can have a standing area, and finally we will have sorta a little coffee house area. Ok that’s visiting day, some else has to plan the next event.

Gals, I tell you honestly, my friends and I turned the 1981Redo into a 4 day event, with dinner on Friday, the Reunion Saturday, the picnic and dinner on Sunday and Disney on Monday, and I STILL didn't get enough! :D I love the idea of a)More time in the reunion itself and b) easier visiting space, but I'm not sure we can ever really have enough time. Ah well, we'll take the good stuff and lessons learned from the 20th and improve and make an even better 25th. By the time we get to our 75th, we'll have it down to a science, even if we do fall asleep halfway through!! :) (And thanks, Beth! I know I speak not only for myself, but all the reunion committee when I say I'm glad you had fun!)

Beth, you are absolutely right. The reunion was wonderful but too short. Even with the extra time spent Friday night at Hennessy's, I didn't get a chance to see many people. Richard Weeks is right, we need to turn it into a weekend event, maybe not club med although that would be fine. Lets think about a 25th. And was it just me or did some of the guys just look great. I always heard that the guys looked worse than the girls......

To all the 81'ers out there: it seems the general consensus is that we should have another reunion sooner than ten years, AND that it was way too short. That is at least from everyone I spoke with. It took a long time to see all the familiar faces, and then find the ones you were closest with. Good job to all the co-ordinators, I and so many others I spoke with had a fabulous time! (Wish we could've found more people)

I wasn't going to post the name until I was sure Kev didn't do it out of love for an old friend. Sorry to get everyone excited. I would like to know who did it though and why.

Nope, Kell, you can read for free, you just can't post. It took me several tries to get through though, I think they need a better server. Anyway, there is no message, what we were talking about was the fact that some idiot decided to register himself as "John Maxwell". John was a very close friend of both mine and Kevin's, and I might add, he passed away shortly after graduation. Utterly poor taste, but not a major event. xoxoo

What exactly IS the message on Classmates.com? I tried to access the message board but it seems you have to be a gold member to do so (at 30 bucks a year). Did you find another way in?

Rich and Kev- What is with that garbage on Classmates? If you are members, you should contact the site and fill them in. Is there any bio posted? ------------- As for the reunion, RichyRich, We had 4 days of fun in 81! However, for the 25th, I'd really like to see a longer party with more identification of classmates. I didn't like walking about staring at everyones chest and squinting at the little photo.. It would have been nice, in hindsight, if we'd had a board in the front announcing who'd arrived or something. I missed some people I would have liked to talk to..
