Don't remember Schweisinger(what sport did he coach?), I remember Raicsh ( spelling) , and Anis (I had him teach us Drivers Ed. I was in a car with Kathy Ellis and him when she drove out of South driveway behind Vons turned left onto Calle Mayor got to PCH and made a right turn that missed PCH by about 20' this side drove over the curb and got the car stuck on the island that the gas pumps were mounted on) Anis was so casual, he goes " ya know Kathy I think we need to work a little more on the right turns , and I think we have enough gas in the car , so lets get there on PCH and cruise the Esplanade "....I remember Corman , I remember Beardsly, and of couse Bryanthmmmmmmm this is an Alzhiemers test.... all of them did all the Spartan students rightously in their sharing their knowledge in the areas of personal growth, sportsmanship, positive attitude / experience , pride in winning , and fairness which are the character traits everyone learned to live their lives with from them. Life is good !!

Coach Schweisinger is doing well! he lives just west of Ocean Ave off of 234th. I ran into him at the hallmark store about a week ago. If I think I've been out of high school for too long to care to remember, he told me to not even mention it to him! I remember way back when, he had the football team help him put up the wood fence around his property. It still stands today.

Greg, I remember coach Dodson. I think he also taught World. Geo, but I never had him. I didn't get into the school sports too much. 1 year of cross country and track and then I wanted my afternoons back. Can't remeber Fred Switzenger at all. Bill

Greg...I had a bronze 1960 Corvette,,,it was great at Lions Drag Strip 10.49 seconds elapsed time in the 1/4 mile......although , I do recall getting 18 tickets in 6 months....now that I recall it was because of Molly, who was my girlfriend , and her knowing at the time an ex-torrance municipal court judge and attorney at the time , who lived on the Esplanade by Knob Hill , that arranged for the courts to only suspend my license for 6 months instead of the 1 year that they wanted it for...the trade off was helping with him and the Bar Associations room booth , during Operation Nepal....he actully went to court with me and told the other judge that I was in his employ as a chauffer and that he needed me for a minimum of 6 months. What a hoot..my mom still has a 67 SS 396 Chevelle Super Sport , Gold with a Black Landau top that looks like it just came off the showroom floor, thanks to Champion Chevrolet...everytime she takes it out of the garage and to the store it turns out to be a spectator matter...so she usually drives other cars...she dosen't like to deal with the people wanting to buy it from her,,,she'll never sell it ..she says she's leaving it to me,,,,I tell her to stick around , I don't need another car that bad........Hey Bill speaking of the hair over the collar,,,,I remember being on the football team at the beginning of Senior Year and the team having to do 500 yards of Bear Crawls for every player who had hair in the two inch range above our ears, guys were throwing up cause there were more than 10 of us with long hair....we had that short stubby coach with a flat top haircut, who was an ex marine drill instructor....and didn't like surfers or their hair.... I remember being there at practice when, he was screaming at us all about it and we were giving him major grief and he offered to whip anyone there , which brought things to a higher level and he ended up saying to us if anyone thought that they were man enough to take him on to step on forward , at which point Steve Miller said he'd do it and he squared off on Steve and was in the process of swinging at Steve when Steve knocked the coach out with one punch and an ambulance came and took the coach to the hospital......last we ever saw of him,,, the replacement coach much easier to get along with cause he knew what had happened....Steve got arrested on the spot after much applause and cheers. what ever happened to Steve anyway I remember the Samoans in Hermosa and Redondo wouldn't mess with him...coach was feelin spunky that day

Greg, Getting too many Bills from 68. Bill A is the one looking for Molly. He must be the one with a corvette. I had a red & white VW bus. Bill A stated you had short hair..who didn't in those days with the coaches sending us home for hair over the collar. Weren't you on the basketball team, at least your first couble of years? TB still rules. Ran into Bernie Keach there the other day. Bill M

Thanks Greg, will check Lakeside , Calif for Molly , never did get a contact address for her......haven't heard of Dick Yates in ions..... although , I beleive I know you from back in the day. You have kind of dark brown hair, sort of wavy, a rather slim and casual guy, I think we were in a PE class .I think one of my sons orthodontist Mark Matsunaga has a place on Vanatu , he has pictures on the office wall and offers to take the kids surfing there, at the removal of braces.Out of curiosity how is it that you live on Vanatu and know about Lakeside listing..

To the Whitfords: Do you have a brother, David? I seem to remember him from Hillside. Maybe, Bruce, Greg, and David? Did you live next to Sherry Godel and across the street from the Fillman's? If you speak to David (IF he exists, my memory is terrible)please tell him Jerrie Morris says Hi!

Bill A, I wasn't able to get to the 30 reunion which was held in Redondo Beach. I was out of state that weekend. I did order the reunion memory book and it has Mindy listed as: Melinda Albright Holbert 18317 Sandy Cove Dr. Naussau Bay, TX 77058 As far as Molly, I've never seen her since high school. A couple years back, I was chating with Dan Carlson '70 at clasmates and through the SkaterDater thing he mentioned that he has lunch with Molly ~ 6 months in San Diego. Stated she goes by Mac Leod still. I lost Dan's email address and since I'm not a member of classmates I can't get it that way. I see that Dan looks once & while at the South Forum at Delphi, but he doesn't leave a email trail. Maybe you could leave a message for him there? Never seen Mindy or Molly online. Hopefully this gives you some avenues to pursue. Good luck. Bill

From: Bill M (Other from '68) on Fri Jan 11 18:42:41 2002
John S. I remember Ken Morelock. Wasn't close to him but we graduated together. The school had a lot more students back then so you couldn't really know everyone. I think it hit it's peak in '69. I saw the Bowl about a year ago and it has a large chain on the ground running through it...but the chain could be jumped.. maybe we should give it a try. Still going to Hag's, huh? I haven't been there in years. I don't want the attitudes. I still go out whenever it is breaking, but never at a point break anymore. Too crowded. Still using a surfboard instead of a shortboard. I wonder what stories "I'll Never Tell" has to tell? It sounds like the cops never stopped it. They kept trying in the late 60s but if a 80 girl still had fun there I guess they gave up.

Rocketship park?..... Now that brings back memories of my NAUGHTY girlhood!!
From: Bill M (Other from 68) on Fri Jan 11 16:35:06 2002
Bill A. No, adifferent Rick Anderson. This one was younger. Lived by El Retiro Park.(Anybody remember the night life there, or at Rocketship?) Rick had sister named Diane who was '69. Molly is attorney in or near San Diego. At least in 1999. Mindy, who wouldn't want to talk to her, was married and living in Texas..at our 30 year reunion. I have her married name around here somewhere if you want it. RMQ, (?) Yeah, Gary lived on Calle Mayor. The other Gary Hill '67 lived on Highgrove towards Newton School. Dickie Yates is another name from the past, but he wasn't an Imperial. From Ellenwood was Bart Jahn, but since he didn't participate in a contest we had enter he didn't meet the people putting the movie together. They signed us on the spotso he was left out. Always felt bad about that. David Wilson was also a member at the beginning of the club, but he dropped out early. And to all you guys who hanged out at El Rancho, the Night Riders couldn't skate. Torrance Beach Rules

Bill- Ah, the good ol’ Bowl. Back in 1971/72 a bunch us sidewalk-grems used to skate that place every day after school that is until the school put up railroad tracks along the bottom and top of the wall to end our fun. We were only around ten or eleven at that time but we hung out with the older brother of one of my friends, his name was Ken Morelock, ring any bells? Any ways SkaterDater was a great film... I wonder if it’s for rent? Also there is a great film coming out this year called Z- Boys in Dog Town, it’s all about skating in the south bay in the 70s. It took top prize at Sundance last year, I totally recommend it. Well Hags is going off so I’m out of here-

If you have anyway of finding her I would love to talk with her........also do you remember Mindy Albright.....I have been trying to contact her also, without much sucess. " The Bowl " yeah,,,,,that was a rush on skateboards... got an e-mail from Roby LaPorte the other day . I remember Chris Parker, used to surf with him...I remember his rather long blondish brownish surf look hair. Glad to hear he is in Paradise too. Killer surf the last few days and one of the greatest contests on Maui yesterday in memory of Eddie = " Eddie would go ". I still have a home in Southern Calif. but I do not think that I would want to live there after being here for the past period of years....Good to hear from you , sorry missed the spelling it's been a long time....pretty good on the Imperials though , huh? I was in the movie " The Beastmaster " we took 200 horses and riders to the Paramount Ranch for the filming , we were the Jung Warriors that raped and pilaged the village in the movie , it was a hoot , maybe two hoots. aloha
From: Bill McKaig ((the other 68)) on Tue Jan 8 12:53:57 2002
Bill, Close on the spelling. Yep I was in the Imperials way back then. Remember "The Bowl" at Riviera Elementary. We also were in a movie called SkaterDater. My kids had to watch it on raining days when they were in elementary school in Torrance. Love your state. Had a trip planned for last November to go to Maui, but my wife hurt her back. Been to Maui a few times, we always stop in to see Chris Parker (68) who lives there. Would love to live there too. aloha from the mainland. Bill M

Bill (68) very good response. We all have done stupid things at SHS but "most" of us were not that stupid to get caught. Right Bret.

hey ,,, NO isn't there a " Discipline Code " that you are given a copy of either automatically or upon request that defines catagorically every possible instance of discipline and the proceedures, catagories , consequences , and student rights in regards to searches/ seizures. in Hawaii it is refered to as "Chapter 19 Discipline Code" printed by the State and required to be distributed to students and followed implicitly..searches here require a situation where only an administrator can do it. something must have been seen and it must be defined what is being searched for ....if a student refuses then a police officer must do a search if one is done.... before a student is allowed to speak to a police officer a students parents "must be notified and give permission for a police officer to speak to their student" if a parent refuses then there must be arrangements made for a meeting at the police dept. if a parent is amiable to that... if not freedome of not speaking exists....if there are grounds to arrest a student = a visual sighting= actually busted and a school official actually has possession of what a student had= a joint, booze, weapon....then there are grounds to arrest a student....at which point a search; since they then have reasonable cause to believe a student has something else would allow for a search........unless this is adhered to then you would have legal grounds to file a suit for your civil rights having been violated.....it sounds like you should consult legal advice in regards to the situation at hand...also it would be prudent to handle yourself and your business or actions in such a manner that would not bring attention to yourself to the level whereas you find yourself being the subject of a search situation or the topic of conversation from administrative personel whereas you are in their focus for such a search....I mean the only searches are for " CONTRABAND " I went to school there and we had contraband back then.....but we were never lame enough to be so obvious whereas we made ourselves needing to be searched......I don't say I condone whatever you " might " be doing , but I do suggest that you keep a low profile and also know that there are some significant consequenses for all forms of contraband these days . Hawaii= 90 days for pot, weapons, booze= automatic suspension. It's called an "Act 90" , if a deal can be made due to extenuating stupidity on the part of a student it could be reduced to an " Act 45 " = 45 days....at 10 days of any suspension the school can move for " Serious Discipline " = find another school... welcome to the new milinium and be cool in it...you sound angry , but are you experienced and informed.....schools frown on overt stupidity these days and after Columbine and others there is reason for their concern.... keep a low profile and keep your nose clean , as my dad used to say....there is a time and place for everything and school is not usually either one Peace
