Zack Wolk, Chonk, and yes, JASON BANE, have a TV show called "Cheap Blue Horn," which will be airing TONIGHT at 9:30 PM on Torrance channel 20 (TCTV). If you miss it tonight, have no fear! It will be on EVERY NIGHT for the next two weeks at the same bat time, same bat channel. Every two weeks, there will be a new episode.. which means, of course, the show will be on EVERY DAY! This will continue until September, when Chonk and Jason Bane move to Santa Cruz for college.

A date has been set for a Very casual picnic for our 25th Reunion. Saturday, August 10, 2002, from 4pm til 8pm at Rocketship park. Then at 8pm, folks can split off to have smaller gatherings, goof off, whatever. It is a "bring your own blanket and basket" affair, and we will be collecting ideas for the 30th. Please spread the news to any classmates you are in contact with, and the info will also be posted (although last-minute) on Classmates.com.

Hey Class of 2002, here's a suggestion! :) THE SNEEZE They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-three students filing into the already crowded auditorium. With rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt. Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and moms freely brushed away tears. This class would not pray during the commencements ----- not by choice but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it. The principal and several students were careful to stay within the guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families. The speeches were nice, but they were routine....... until the final speech received a standing ovation. A solitary student walked proudly to the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then he delivered his speech ... an astounding SNEEZE!. The rest of the students rose immediately to their feet, and in unison they said, "GOD BLESS YOU." The audience exploded into applause. The graduating class found a unique way to invoke God's blessing on their future ... with or without the court's approval. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Well sis, Melissa’s surgery went well. She didn’t sleep the night before so when they put her out she was out. We should have gotten out of the hospital by 3:00 pm but no, little miss sleepy head wouldn’t wake up. The combo of drugs and no sleep was to much, the little S#!t. Any way let’s just hope we don’t have o go through this again. FYI, for those who are wondering, I’m talking about my daughter Melissa’s Hernia surgery. She had it Friday or yesterday. Long freaking day I tell you.

Teresa.......no worries my perception was that it was merely a misunderstanding , and that we were obviously having a failure to communicate......so it appeared that I needed to clarify exactly where I was coming from.....and that was from over here trying to make a (*_,*) smile appear on you.......I appreciate your thoughtfullness and your response.....I understand very well and kindness is a good idea and a good thing.....I will try and spread more of it .....and age is a relative thing.....I try and wear it well......I actually win bets and drinks some times at the local pubs when some one asks me how old are you and I respond with ......Guess.....and two or three others decide to get in on the bet and 34 to 37 is usually the answer.......so I am either wiser than my apparent years....or older than I look......I like the former best...since you know what year Alumni that I am......

To Greg Whitford: What is this nonsense about a '56 Chevy 2-door that turned in the low 10s at Lyons Drag Strip? I hope you're not talking about the one you had. More like 18 seconds and 70 mph... Whatever happened to your '46 Chevy 2-door that you painted the afternoon of your prom?? Haven't talked to Bruce in quite a while, or Diane and Andy in quite a while. Get a Christmas card every year from Cheryl Bess. Still own a 70 Chevelle SS, 66 Chevy II SS and a green '58 Chevy Apache pickup. Now do you know who this is? Oh,,Teresa, something I forgot to ask since it has been suggested that I " Sharpen up " on my spelling.....what does "SMARTBUT" actually mean, as I was unable to find it in Websters Dictionary.... and exactly how does it relate me and to the smile that I was what I was trying to give to you?? (*_,*)
From: Bill (68) on Fri Apr 19 00:08:56 2002
Teresa........FYI : choke= alot, a whole lot, a bunch,a really large amount, major quantities, humongous amounts of.....more than you could imagine........for example wishing you a lot of aloha= choke aloha......it was a good party with a whole lot of people= great party and choke people,,,,,,,there was a lot of food = choke food........ aloha = goodness, love, warmth and good things, the feeling of goodness, kindness, a spirtual feeling of the previous eleven words .... I can send you a Bumper Sticker that says " LIVE ALOHA " So when I end my posting " With Choke Aloha " I am telling you that what I am saying comes with major quantities of love and goodness.....that still stands and it is not sarcasm it is from the heart,,,,my heart.....although , I do appreciate that you are of the frame of mind to feel that if it is somehow demeaning , which it was clearly not , that is somehow related to the year of my birth which it is also clearly not........regarding my spelling hmmm I have completely reviewed my post and the only correct spelling deviation would be the word " cruzin " which is my slang / spelling it translation or explaination would be like it was used im my post " just cruzin by " another use would be " wanna go cruzin " or maybe ..hey what were those guys doing when you saw them on the Esplanade.....answer= not much they were just cruzin...........hopefully this would bring clarity to what I have said and where I am coming from... and since I don't feel defensive about your suggestion that I should or could " Choke on this " I don't especially feel the need to do that.....The Glass is Still Half Full......perhaps it would be helpful to re-read what I was saying to you.....I was attempting to guide you to feel better about yourself and things in general as you had just got through saying in your prior post that High School was not your best years and that you were very insecure and as you looked back you were embarassed about your behavior. You went on to reference people back then as backstabbers...Overall reading through the lines there still appeared to be some lingering issues and my intentions were to merely bring you a positive perspective in regards to things and to wish you smiles and a wonderful April.....perhaps my command of the English language is not what it used to be as it would seem that what we had there was a failure to communicate....I look forward to a future that holds and provides much better communication..... with choke aloha to you and everyone else here

"smartbut"? And you attack HIS spelling? Certainly it is good policy to attack someone before you've acertained that they were being rude. (Note: that was sarcasm) Won't you feel (even more)stupid if you find out Bill was being his typically nice self? Or are you too dense to notice? And furthermore, why would someone who is 33 years old be any more prone to rudeness that someone who is 50? Gee, you're a bright one.

Hi, Joni.. I think it's time for Byon to do a little housekeeping on his board. I'm all for freedom of speech, but these little twerps who come here from West are over the top. Maybe I'M the one who needs to make a phone call -- to John Black at West High. After more than 30 years of friendship, I'm sure he'd be interested in seeing what some of his students are up to. What's really scary it the thought they may have actually graduated and just pretend to be ignorant children!
From: Joni (1980) on Mon Mar 25 00:40:48 2002
It's just obvious to me that little smart a$$ kids from West high post here, and say bad things about a school that their Principal taught at, then I'm attacked for not being nice? At least I'm brave enough to attach my email address to my posts, unlike you people who choose to insult me, and YES, I fully intend to keep my promise about informing.
From: 44 (44) on Sun Mar 24 16:36:04 2002

From: Joni (1980) on Sun Mar 24 14:20:23 2002
Don't have to like me. I EARNED my respect, just as you will one day. I'm not saying ALL young people are stupid, I am saing that when people are young, they tend to rush things, and they miss important facts, as the young person from West so appropriately displayed.

He taught at South High for many years, and he also served as principal at Arnold elementary, a school that many South high students attended. Mr. Morrison is also a very dear friend to my family. Would you like me to embarras you by informing him of your shameful activity??? All it would take is a phone call, or better yet, a visit in person to his office. WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO DO THAT???? This was just e-mailed to me. I thought I would share it. Just in case you weren't feeling to old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of the current year's incoming freshmen. Here's the list: 1) The people who are starting college this fall across the nation, were born in 1984. 2) They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up. 3) Their lifetime has always included aids. 4) Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic. 5) The CD was introduced the yeat they were born. 6) They have always had an answering machine. 7) They have always had cable. 8) They can not fathom not having a remote control. 9) Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show. 10) They never took a swim and thought about JAWS. 11) They can not imagine what hard contact lenses are. 12) They don't know who Mork was or where he was from. 13) They never heard: "Where's the beef?" , "I'd walk a mile for a Camel." or "de plane Boss, de plane!" 14) They do not care who shot J.R. and have no idea who J.R. even is. 15) Michael Jackson was always white. 16) Mc Donald's never came in Styrofoam containers. 17) They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

I remember Theresa and Mary. Their dad "Clark" was my barber when I was a kid. His shop was next to Anchor Liquor Market on the corner of Anza and Calle Mayor. Theresa and her girlfriends used to party alot with me and my friends. Debbi if you get in touch with them tell them I said Hi. I met Mary once when her older sister Theresa brought her out to the drive-in movies with me and my friend Andy Fox.

When at Wilson Field the Little League Park when about nine years old, I met the "director" of SkaterDater, who told me "I am a director and I am doing a film" He was there for star Randy Kimos, who was playing ball. If I am right, I think I coined that title "Skaterdater" to describe what a stupid skaterboarder under the bleachers "Was Not". I said "some people think they are Skaterdaters or something". Skateboarder was a klutz. Not a big deal but what I recall. Don't remember the guys name I was just a kid. Mom was a scorekeeper and Jim my brother played ball, I was also sometime "batgirl" which was shocking to some parents then.

I certainly remember Fred Schwitzinger - including when he was an instructor at Snow Summit in Big Bear. He had a great story about being out with friends one evening and got run over by the car one of them was driving. The guy looked in his rear view mirror to see if he killed him - but saw to his astonishment that Fred was getting up off the ground (his white shirt had tire tread marks across the chest). The guy was so afraid that he didn't go home that night in case Fred whacked him! Fred could stretch across 2 chairs and have a guy sit on him. That's what all that good meat does for you (if my brain cells haven't gone altogether, I think his dad had a butcher's shop at one stage. Fred was also getting a real estate licence. Great to hear he's still surviving & living in So. Calif.

Just a tip for you 1972 folks.. you probably already know this, but those invites should be going out REALLY soon. We at the SHS81 20 year took the advice of the planning company and mailed our invites late.. it was a BIG error and cut into how many people attended. It's really super important that people know about that reunion as far in advance as you can possibly tell them. Insist that your invites are mailed by the end of March.. and don't listen if you're told it's better to wait. It isn't. Also get a list of who isn't found, and look yourself. I had at least two classmates reported as "missing" by the planning company turn up in the Torrance phone book. They were mightily upset to have been overlooked.. can't say I blame them. -Val

Crystal Fields has book us a Hotel for the 30 year reunion. Details as follows: I have contacted Creative Class Reunions to do our reunion. She wasn't sure if there was anything at the Queen Mary, so we booked August 31,st (labor day weekend) at the Long Beach Marriott. She said they close the restuarant down for the reunion. They have food stations with different kinds of food and desserts. We have access to the pool area which she floats balloons and things in the pool. (also good for smokers). The Friday night ice breaker we can have in the bar area. This is all right there in the hotel. The tickets will be $70.00 per person, and the room rates are $90.00 a night.(Wanda mentioned that the room rates on the Queen Mary were $149.00 a night, and very small). She said it's a real nice hotel. So told you go for it because Bishop was looking into that same time frame and I told her to just do it. I need to look thur my stuff to find the last class list from the 20yr and give that to her to start her search. They do the rest. Hope this is OK with you. Crystal

You know, Carol, I regret that too.. not taking the arts classes. I felt inadequate compared to some of the talent I saw there. Today, I think, there is more emphasis on the arts in school.. the importance of such has been realized.

Did you go to your reunions? I was amazed at how much people have changed, and yet stayed so recognizable. My high school crushes are still handsome devils, my friends are still nuts underneath the proffessional veneers, and on the whole, everyone was incredibly nice and wonderful. I wish I'd known more of my classmates better too.. it sems they're a pretty terrific bunch!

I was anxious to grow up, in a hurry to be an adult. Now I realize that was silly.. I had such a short time as a kid to begin with! Ack! Fortunately, both of my kids learned from my mistake.. they really enjoy school, and my son Michael (02) would like to extend his stay there another year! Hope you're enjoying yourself too! Hey!
