Hi to Scott Holcombe and John Shirley! It's so good to know you are doing well. I remember you both as all-around great guys. John, do you ever see Jay (Julian) Farnum? What about Paul Ottenheim? I really enjoyed seeing you and Paul every once in a while when you all were still going to Art Center and would meet up with Jay at his house, which was right down the street from mine. Congrats on ending up at a terrific agency. Check out the alumni directory on this site for my e-mail address. I'd love to hear from you.

Still live in the South Bay and drive by the old school from time to time. It still looks the same but times have changed. I had metal shop all four of my high school years and I've been told that south doesn't even offer metal shop anymore. The slogan for Mac donalds was that you could get a Big Mac, fries and a coke for under a buck. My first car, which I got in my Jr. year was a '66 Mustang (I wish I still owned it). Gas was about .33 a Gal. I would fill it up with a five dollar bill and get change. The car rallies at school where a blast. Do they still do that? Twice during my four years at South we had planes crash on campus from Torrance airport. Both times it was on a weekend so no one got hurt, and both times they tried to land on the sports field. One ended up hitting the library. Fight on Spartans!!

Hey Byon,
Nice job with the new design. The "South High School" on the first page of the site reminded me so much of the good old sign in front of the school that it made me smile. And the Spartans logo on the green background is a nice touch. Just wondering, for those Spartans still attending school at South -- is the Rolling Stones "tongue" logo still painted on the side of the gymnasium?

Carolyn, my sister clued me in to your message. Delighted that you remembered me first among such notables. Amazed that you're not in touch with Terri, but then neither am I--not even with Anagnost. Did you see Stillwell's message. Hasn't Sullie won the Noble yet? I'm something of a beach bum in Redondo Beach: never got hitched, though I got close with that blonde when I was 19. Not surprised at what you're doing; you were always different.

What a kick! Went to Crosby Stills & Nash last night and today fell into this site while searching for test scores and edu.info for Calif. high schools. Talk about deja vue! It's fun to see a few familiar names from the 60's and 70's.Things don't actually sound all that different at South than they used to be except you can't possibly explain to some high school kid now that we could get nabbed by the V.P. (remember Mr. Benson?) and sent home for stuff like wearing sandles, short skirts or T-shirts without pockets. I've tried to tell my 14 year old son about it but he just gives me a weird look and says"sure ,Mom..." like I'm some kind if nutcase.
Well, enough of this. I'd sure like to get an E-mail address for Kathy Huizing (Filatreau) so if you are out there Kathy let me know.
To all you fresh new Spartan 2000's,even if you hate being there right now you're going to look back with a certain pleasure at your four long years at South so try to enjoy!!!

Anyone can go and it should be a great time.
For all of you that haven't visited the www.Classmates.com site, you're missing out. Take some time and log on and read the messages on the board. We're having a ball getting caught up with old friends. The are almost 900 South High Alums signed up and we have a very active group conversing every day.
Have some patience and read some of the messages to get up to speed and then join in. It's great.

And to everyone pondering the reunion site......As I remember it, the 10 year site was in beautiful, and I use that term VERY loosely, DOWNTOWN L.A. I think the point is getting everyone together to remember and have a good time! We didn't go to school there, either. C'mon folks.........................OK, I'm off my soapbox.

Call South and let them know (Although I think they have nothing to do with it officially)Laura Ramsey wants it in Orange County (why)and may be planning it for there. Let me know what you think.

Just found this site (thanks Kalinski - tried to post back to you @ Classmates, but it glitched). Haven't seen or talked with a lot of you in years. Been busy building up the Italian race for a reconquest, don't you know. My wife (Mary Frances - great Italian woman!) and a I have four wonderful, beautiful children ages 5 to 10 (3 girls and 1 boy). We live in Hermosa Beach and I'm at the MWD managing the Real Estate Acquisitions Group. Hey, I see a lot of rumblings about the 20th, but no real action - just like the good ol' days!! Maybe I can help. Hope all of you are well and happy - Voluch
