Hi, I'm trying to get in contact with an old friend who graduated from South High in 1968. Her name is Yumi Chai & I would appreciate any info on her whereabouts, or if someone would let her know I'm trying to track her down. I lost contact with her about 30 yrs ago & moved away from CA 23 yrs ago, so I don't know where to start looking. Thanks.

From: Amy (91) on Fri Apr 28 15:01:55 2000
I will have to agree with you on that, I thought this was for mainly Souther's. Guess I was wrong the illiterate think they need to pretend they're smart or something....
From: Anne ('80) on Mon Apr 24 19:15:57 2000
Touché Amy!! I'm totally with you on that one…. You'd think they'd be embarrassed to admit that they even go to school!!! This site is for fun, to find old friends, etc…. It looks like some people use this forum like dogs use hydrants - to 'mark their turf' or something… Let's keep this site light and fun, people!!!

Thank you Byon Garrabrant for this really cool vehicle for reconnecting with old friends and classmates. Sadly some people are using it as a dumping ground for immature and silly comments, verbal trash. Perhaps, Byon, you ahould edit what gets posted.

My thoughts on South: South is a good organization with a pretty good staff and nearly no major uck-ups. The kids @ South think they're hardocre gangsters when none of them have seen a stabbing or even heard a shooting. They form little "Cliques" and then tag on a tacky 3 or 2 letter acronyms. Then they claim to "Be Down" but since there's nothing to "Be Down" for it's really pointless since there's no imminent danger in the city of Torrance, or South Torrance at least. In North Torrance it's a different story, crime is upped a little bit and people are forced to be "hard", West is the same way. Torrance High is fine because although it's mostly addicts, nobody pretends to be somebody that they're not, they fess up to their crimes and I respect them more for it. But this South High gang mentality is retarded. Next Issue: The Bathrooms, for those of you who don't know... South High is something like 20,000 square feet with a population of near 2,000 (alumni) and there has never been a problem in the past with the bathrooms, but now the bathrooms are in such bad shape that in order to escape imminent suspension of grounds, it's time for a little construction work. Great. I'm thrilled. I hardly ever use the bathrooms anyways but when I do I don't particularly enjoy the stank of urine and feces upon entrance. But what have these construction workers been doing for the last 3 months!? Lunch Break is like 4 hours and they just putz around when they're on the job. What the F is that!? And get this.... the school has the funds to erect girl's softball dugouts and fences in less than a week but Bathrooms take close to 8!? To make matters worse on a select few of the bathrooms on campus are open which means they're used more often, which means that the same screwed up kids that manifested the disaster areas in the closed bathrooms are just reaking (reeking, no pun intended) havoc in the open ones. I swear to God that if this nonsence continues for another month we're staging a Walk-Out. Not only is it vile and disgusting but it's hazerdous to our Health... no one needs that. So South has no problem really with it's teaching staff, the administrators for the most part do their duty right on. Security is on par. I love the councilers to death. The kids.... well, us kids will be kids. But between the bathrooms, the stupid campus (mall) gang mentality, the overpriced cafeteria food, the lock-ins (which, if u ask me make us not only feel like animals but act like animals {or prisoners}), South High is a laughable little soceity. Preparing us for college? Maybe. Preparing us for Life!? Only if we're convicted.
From: Definetely not class prez-i feel so sorry for u people (i dunno-all i know is that it took 5yrs to do it) on Wed Apr 12 19:18:15 2000
south has its ups and downs...but its all bout 2000! yea american beauty-hopefully the money from that will be finally fixing the bathrooms-like u dont hear enough from them-spring break is a great opp. for them to knock some toliets in..

From: Amy Wilcox (Brice) (1991) on Wed Mar 29 12:11:57 2000
I agree with Kelli Scott, it's those few instructors that you remember, the ones who make a great impression and leave one on you. Joe keep your chin up a few years from now you look back and remember on instructor abouve the rest. Good Luck.Senior.=)
From: Kelly Scott (1980) on Wed Mar 29 06:26:24 2000
Hi JoE CeLLi, School back WHEN was cool? I don't remember high school administrators ever being all that cool. It's the teachers -- a select few -- who help guide you in life. Who are some of your favorite teachers, and why do you think you'll remember them 20 years from now?
From: JoE CeLLi (2000) on Tue Mar 28 08:58:06 2000
I agree with someone that allready signed this thing. School back then was cool now it sucks. The Administration isnt good, all they do is tell you the donts in school or what you cant do or wont be in life. This is when we need people to help guide us in life and all they do is sit on their butts and collect a pay check. They Suck...

The Masses Have Spoken! I have returned the old message board. My original thought was that the message list was getting too long, and slow to load, and thus the other board with just the subject lines would be faster. But I'd rather have the board people like and use. I'll try to keep up on the archiving to keep this one from getting too big. Sorry for the interruption :) Also, I plan to make changes to the directory section in the future, so please send me your comments, good or bad. Thanks!

I guess this must be the computer illiterate group. Where are all the early graduates? I am living in Port Orchard, Wa. (just west of Seattle) with my husband of 29 years, Terry. After 2 children and 25 years in the air force we decided to settle here. Our daughter, Tracey is 25 and son, Todd, is 24. Both are in Bellingham, Wa. Would love to hear from old friends. Jane
From: Steve Polcari (1978) on Mon Feb 21 14:26:53 2000
Wow it amazes me how many old names are resurfacing. Good to see that you are all doing so well. We live right across the street from where I grew up, so now my daughters will be Spartans too! (I even take them to the football games when we can). Just incredible how much things change, yet stay the same. My brother moved to South Dakota (Worthing) in October 1993, where he and his wife seem to like it with their two sons age 3 years and 1 month. God bless the green and white!

Looking for classmates. I am living out here in South Dakota. I am married with 3 children and teach 5th grade in the local school. Would love to hear from fellow Spartans.
